Deze unieke tweedaagse tour is een rondleiding langs 11 monolithische kerken die in de 12e eeuw uit de rotsen zijn gehouwen. Deze kerken in Lalibela werden gebouwd als een nieuw Jeruzalem in een tijd dat Jeruzalem niet toegankelijk was. Bezoekers worden op de luchthaven opgehaald, op eigen gelegenheid bij hun hotel afgezet voor de lunch en vervolgens naar de noordelijke groep kerken gebracht, gevolgd door een museumbezoek. De 2e dag begint met een reis van 42 kilometer naar de Yimrehane Krestos-kerk gebouwd in een grot. Deze prachtige kerk gebouwd van hout en steen is tachtig jaar ouder dan de rotskerken van Lalibela. Aan de achterkant van die grot zijn enkele van de eeuwenoude gemumificeerde overblijfselen van 5.500 pelgrims te zien. Een dorp in de buurt is optioneel, aangezien de bezoeker terugkeert naar Lalibela voor de lunch in hun hotel en de middagtour door het zuidoostelijke cluster van kerken en Bet Giyorgis (St. George), gebouwd ter ere van St. George, de patroonheilige van Ethiopië. Ophalen vindt plaats de volgende ochtend na het ontbijt voor transfer naar de luchthaven.

An amazing place. Unique in many ways. Worth going there anytime, but Timket is best. Colourful, music and singing, the tradition, the history, the UNESCO class architecture. Plus the market and the little climbing to the monastery at 3000 m!
