Geniet van een efficiënte eendaagse tour door de twee beroemde vismarkten van Tokio, Toyosu en Tsukiji, evenals andere lokale gebieden, tijdens deze themareis met eten en cultureel winkelen, vergezeld van een door de overheid erkende en ervaren meertalige gids! Je gids zal je ontmoeten in je hotel om de dag te beginnen en je vervolgens mee te nemen naar beroemde bezienswaardigheden zoals Toyosu en de buitenste Tsukiji-vismarkt; Asakusa winkelstraat, gevuld met authentiek Tokyo streetfood; en Ueno's Ameyoko en Kappabashi, het wonderland van Japans keukengerei. Toyosu Market (豊洲市場, Toyosu Shijō) werd geopend op 11 oktober 2018 op het kunstmatige eiland Toyosu in de baai van Tokio. Het nam de groothandel over van de verouderende Tsukiji-markt en biedt toeristen de mogelijkheid om de marktactie te observeren en te dineren in restaurants in zijn grote, moderne gebouwen. De enorme groothandelsmarkt bestaat uit drie hoofdgebouwen: twee gebouwen voor zeevruchten en een voor groenten en fruit. Alle gebouwen zijn met elkaar en Shijo-mae Station verbonden via loopbruggen. Deze tour is beschikbaar om 8 uur ’s ochtends. Ontmoet je Gids in de ochtend bij Tsukiji Honganji Temple, net buiten de hoofdpoort van de markt. Terwijl je je een weg baant door dit labyrint van alle vissoorten, leer je van je Gids over de geschiedenis van de markt en waarom veel Japanse topkoks hier dagelijks komen om de meest verse ingrediënten van kwaliteit op te halen. Je weet nooit wat je tegenkomt als je langs de kraampjes van dit geweldige foodcenter wandelt. Misschien zie je stapels zee-egel (uni) netjes opgestapeld in dozen, kijk je toe hoe verkopers enorme blauwvintonijn aansnijden of spot je kogelvissen die in tanks drijven. Veel winkels in Tsukiji zijn gesloten vanwege de sluiting van Toyosu. ※gesloten op woensdag, zondag, nationale feestdagen, nieuwjaar en af en toe op andere onregelmatige dagen.
Een van de favoriete bezigheden van menig bezoeker aan Japan gaat op souvenirwinkeltje en haalt zoveel mogelijk fantastische goederen en aanbiedingen binnen. In Ginza winkelen mensen voor high-end en trendy mode in de vele warenhuizen en eersteklas belastingvrije winkels, terwijl Shinjuku bekend staat om zijn overvloed aan massale elektronicawinkels - Tokio biedt velen een hotspot voor shoppen.
Sensoji-tempel is een van de beroemdste tempels in Japan. Het kijkt terug op een geschiedenis van 1.300 jaar en is ook beroemd om zijn toegangspoort genaamd Kaminarimon die opvalt door zijn grote rode lantaarn. Sensoji zelf is niet de enige reden waarom u het gebied zou moeten bezoeken. De oudste winkelstraat in Japan, Nakamise Dori genaamd, bevindt zich voorbij Kaminarimon en leidt naar de belangrijkste hal van de tempel. Op Nakamise Dori kun je traditionele Japanse ambachtelijke artikelen kopen, evenals heerlijke snacks zoals gefrituurde mochi (kleefrijstkoekjes).
Nakamise is de beroemdste winkelstraat in Asakusa. De straat loopt 250 meter over de hoofdaanpak van de Sensoji-tempel en is aan weerszijden bekleed met winkels die traditionele souvenirs, snacks en snoep verkopen. Deze straat staat eigenlijk op tempelbezit en begint en eindigt dus met een tempelpoort: aan de zuidkant bevindt zich de buitenpoort van Kaminarimon en aan de noordkant bevindt zich de binnenpoort van Hozomon. Tussen deze twee poorten bevinden zich 89 winkels, met 54 winkels aan de oostkant en 35 winkels in het westen. "Nakamise" is een traditionele naam gegeven aan winkelstraten op het terrein van tempels of heiligdommen, dus dit is niet de enige "Nakamise" in Japan, maar het is een van de oudste en meest bekende.
Kappabashi-straat (か っ ぱ 橋 道具 街, Kappabashi Dōgugai) is een winkelstraat tussen Ueno en Asakusa, met vele tientallen winkels die alles verkopen wat restaurantexploitanten nodig hebben, met uitzondering van vers voedsel. U vindt gespecialiseerde winkels voor borden, potten, pannen, kookgerei, fornuizen, tafels, stoelen, borden, lantaarns en meer. Er zijn ook een paar winkels die monsters van plastic en wax voedsel verkopen, die door veel restaurants in hun etalages worden gebruikt.
Monjayaki is een vloeibaar, warm, weliswaar onaantrekkelijk gerecht, maar zodra je het uiterlijk en de inhoud hebt bekeken, vergeef je het uiterlijk en duik je erin. Een dun beslag gemaakt met bloem en dashi (Japanse bouillon) vormt de basis, en met talloze combinaties van toppings is er voor elk wat wils. Als je het nog nooit hebt geprobeerd - hetzij opzettelijk zoals ik, of door niet te weten dat het bestond - is er maar één plek om naar toe te gaan in Tokio, en het wordt letterlijk Monja Street genoemd.
Een van de beste winkelstraten in Tokio, met de goed bewaard gebleven oude stad "Shitamachi" -sfeer. Verken de nostalgische kant van Tokio via Yanaka Ginza winkelstraat! Yanaka (谷中) is een rustige buurt in de wijk Taito, in het oosten van Tokio. Het gebied staat bekend als het oude stadsdeel (Shitamachi in het Japans) waar de nostalgische en rustieke sfeer goed bewaard is gebleven. Yanaka is gemakkelijk te bereiken vanuit Ueno en het ligt op loopafstand van Ueno Park. Yanaka is een woonwijk en een rustige commerciële wijk waar veel lokale bewoners wonen en oude winkels en gebouwen samenkomen. Yanaka Ginza (谷中 銀座) is de favoriete plek van de lokale bevolking om te winkelen, eten en rondhangen met buren. Het is het meest levendige deel van de wijk waar bezoekers de echte sfeer van lokale activiteiten kunnen voelen.

On our first full day in Tokyo, we had a 6 hour food and culture tour with “Show” as our guide. Even before we met him, his advice was great. We set up our Suica cards and were ready. We loved the food and cultural route we took with Show. He was informative without simply spewing facts. We wandered around, learned to navigate the trains and people. Learned cultural expectations, and tasted a variety of foods. We highly recommend this tour (especially on day 1 of your trip), the company, and Show as a guide.
A fascinating, enjoyable tour thanks to our wonderful and personable guide, Michio. Calling it a “tour” is somewhat of an understatement, as Michio was a wealth of information spanning Japanese history, language and culture. We especially appreciated having the tour tailored to our interests, not inhibited by a pre-determined itinerary. Amazing experience during our trip! We strongly recommend for all who Wish to visit Tokyo in all kind of points of views!
My son and I had Minnie as a guide and really enjoyed the trip. Minnie emailed in advanced, texted on WhatsApp in days prior and met us hotel lobby for a six hour food and cultural tour during which we visited temples, both food markets (we ate excellent sushi at second one as auction closed early in morning), Buddhist fire ritual, sake tasting, cultural museum and urban garden. Minnie was flexible with itinerary both with means of travel (we preferred subway, though also took one bus and one taxi), and really seemed to be a good fit for us. I found the cost of tour to be very reasonable - ours did not include entrance fees, meals and transportation which worked out well for us. One suggestion is to do something like this early during visit as the food education helps for the rest of holiday.
It was a very hot day, but thanks to the experienced traveler, we were able to visit many spots efficiently. I like tours that are not monotonous and introduce hidden spots. This time, while avoiding the strong sunlight, we were able to visit Tsukiji Market, delicious sushi, a foot bath, public transportation, a small but interesting museum, and one of Tokyo's most famous gardens. I am very grateful to the two gentlemen and their cooperation. There are still many hidden spots. Please come to Japan again. From Minnie.

From the very beginning, Japan Guide Agency was very professional and prompt in answering my emails and questions. Therefore, we booked 2 tours with the company and have no regrets. Guide: Shozo Nitta “Show” We booked a 6 hour tour to Tsukiji Fish Market. Show met us in our hotel lobby, and we started our tour by walking across to the Shibuya train station. We were able to purchase different types of tea, taste sashimi and other snacks at the market. We visited a knife store where my husband purchased a knife and requested it be mailed home. We also went to a very large electronics store. At the end of the tour, Show took us back to the Shibuya train station where we had a light snack before walking back to our hotel. A month after we return home, we realized we did not receive the knife we purchased. We decided to wait a bit longer knowing that international shipping and customs can be tricky with certain items. However, when it was clear that the knife was not coming, I attempted to reach out to the store via their website that is all in the Japanese language. I reached out via email to Show and asked for his assistance in contacting the store and following up on the purchase. Show contacted the store and sent emails translating their response. Apparently, the knife was never sent. The store advised that they would send out another immediately and within 2 weeks of my first email to Show we received the knife. We are so grateful for Show’s professionalism and help and would highly recommend Japan Guide Agency and Show for Tokyo private tours.

Goreilo’s San was our guide for a visit to the old fish market in Tokyo. March 7, 2024 my wife and me met Mr Ken Takahashi at our Tokyo hotel. We reviewed our tour and opted to see Toyo’s Market, Tsukiji Fish Market and Senso-ji Temple and added Idemitsu Museum of Arts instead of the shopping areas. It was a cold wintery day. Ken is an excellent navigator getting through Tokyo’s maze of trains, buses and subways to our spots of interest. We had a nice introduction to Tokyo and its history with Ken’s knowledge. I would go with Ken again because He was well prepared for our journey and answered our questions plus gave us insight into the Japanese way. Frank&Norma
