The low score is a reflection on the audio guide, and not the Ancient Agora and Temple which are absolutely fascinating. It is a really interesting site and gives a real feel of life in ancient Greece. However, our experience of the audio guide was not great, and I would , in hindsight, have preferred to pay the entrance fee at the gate and wandered around myself as there is so much information displayed at the site. I did not feel the audio guide gave me anything extra, and both myself and my husband had minor technical difficulties - for example if I skipped back to re-read something, then moved to the next feature, the audio would be stuck at the previous feature. I had to exit the app and go back a few times before I gave up with it around a third of the way through. I also felt there should be more directions to next point of interest as the map does not always give an idea of distance and I couldnt find two or three stops.
Mid pricing, about 1 hr. Very calming and little people there. There was little inside the temple, and it was very repetitive as well. Staff were nice as well.
No, we wasn't able to obtain audio & wasn't able enjoy ourselves because we didn't know what we were looking at
Our experience was frustrating! The meeting point was incorrect, the ticket sent to us was wrong and for a different tour, then the ticket office at the Ancient Agora informed me that I did not need a ticket for my 15 year old son. The tour operator and Viator were not able to get me a refund for his ticket. Also, it would’ve been extremely helpful to know that we had a 1 hour time window to enter. We unnecessarily rushed to get there right at 1 pm.
The “tickets” were not accepted at the entrance and we were not allowed in. $90 down the drain. Also the meeting place listed was wrong as this site has construction all around and it’s a good thing we wanted to be early because it took nearly half an hour to walk around to the back side to get to the ticket place. RUDE people. Waste of my time. All other tours were wonderful … this one was a bad memory and a waste of time and money. AVOID
The site is definitely worth visiting. The audio guide was ok. The computer generated voice mis pronounced so many words that it was easier to read the description than listen to it
Spent some time in the Ancient Agora yesterday afternoon, loved it. Plenty to see! Peaceful, no queues, lots of trees amongst the ruins and artifacts. Temple is more complete than the Parthenon. Pity the little church is closed for repairs as it is meant to be fabulous, but the museum is excellent. Not too big to get around or cause loss of interest, but lots of variety and explanations, and looks beautiful. A "must see" in Athens.
The agora is cool, but you can see it from outside the gates. Unless you are very interested in each specific thing, I probably wouldn’t suggest. Also, the address was wrong due to construction, so we had to walk around to find it.
Incredible experience but you don’t need to get the tickets from here. Go direct to the website or purchase on the front gate. Can save some money. No tour guide needed. Huge site, lots of work. Be comfortable and prepare for hot dry sun.
A great tour! Very informative and definitely the best way to see the Acropolis. We had some older folks in our group and our guide, John, was amazing at making sure everyone was doing well with the steep climb in the heat. Definitely a hike, there are stairs but they are pretty slippery from the amount of foot traffic, people with mobility issues should be extra cautious. But truly the best part of our trip so far, highly recommend!
