. VanDusen heeft voor ieder wat wils! VanDusen Botanical Garden was one of the highlights of our visit to Vancouver. I visited with my husband and my 73-year-old father, and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience. One thing we appreciated most was that the garden can be explored at your own pace and comfort level. Visitors can stay on the well-maintained paved paths, making it accessible for those who prefer easier walking, while others can venture onto smaller paths and discover more secluded corners of the garden. The variety of plant life is truly impressive. We especially enjoyed the Japanese maples surrounding the lily-covered pond, which created a picture-perfect scene. Another favorite was a striking tree with moss-covered branches and vivid green foliage that looked almost otherworldly. Looking up through the canopy of broad, bright-green leaves framed by blooming rhododendrons was another memorable moment and one of the many opportunities for beautiful photography. We had limited hours to spend in Vancouver, and I have no regrets that they were spent here.
Nice and lovely garden to visit if you want a rest from the chaos in Downtown, specifically Canada Place and dont want to go all the way to Buchard in Victoria. Nice place to visit and then stopped on the way back to Grenville Island for some chaos again.
Simply stunning ! The gardens are beautiful and superbly maintained. Lots of colour, shade and scent from the flowers.
VanDusen Botanical Garden was an unexpect delight. Didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly suprised. Beautiful gardens with wildlife. I was looking forward to a blueberry scone but they were sold out. Settled for bread and jam. Still a nice day. Took the train and the bus to get there. So nice to be in a city with mass transit that works! (note I'm from SoCal)
Absolutely breathtaking! The VanDusen Gardens are a treasure and should not be missed! Every part of the garden is a treat for the senses. After a leisurely stroll through the gardens, we had a fun time trying to find our way through the maze, and then, a lovely lunch in the cafe.
Well maintained and laid out botanical garden, with cafe and restaurant, great idea to have a sheet available for what was in bloom for May
We took a bus from Downtown to Van Dusen. The bus left us about 20 minutes away, but we enjoyed the walk through the beautiful neighborhood. The beautiful gardens are maintained by a large cast of staff and volunteers. A staff member recommended a different bus for our return. The bus stop was just outside the entrance, and the bus dropped us off in front of our hotel. An inexpensive, enjoyable half-day activity.
Bigger than expected, lots of walking. If you can, I would come later in the season to see more flowers in bloom but still very beautiful.
We were actually here for their Sakura Japan Festival. The gardens are stunningly beautiful, well cared for. We actually liked this better than another "famous" garden on Vancouver Island. There was such a beautiful variety of plants and trees here. There are lots of trails to explore. We especially enjoyed getting lost in the hedge maze. Admission was extremely reasonable, even with the Japan Fest going on. There is a small parking lot, although we found parking in the local neighborhood. Springtime was especially lovely with all the trees in bloom.
Wonderful gardens, I visited on my own and despite being winter there was a lot to see including hummingbirds! Lots of sections and hidden areas to explore really exceeded expectations. Price was so cheap compared to UK gardens. I spent about 2.5 hours here.
