Bewonder pittoreske straatjes, levendige markten en kleurrijk handwerk in deze volledig privétour! Onze tour begint met een bezoek aan een familiebedrijf in Tonala. Hier beheersen ambachtslieden al vijf generaties lang de kunst van "barro petatillo", een van de meest verfijnde keramische technieken. Bezoek vervolgens de lokale markt, de kerk en het stadsplein om de levendige levensstijl van een traditionele Mexicaanse barrio te ervaren. Ons avontuur gaat verder in Tlaquepaque! Verken charmante straatjes met kunstmusea, galeries en ambachtelijke winkels in omgebouwde historische herenhuizen. Vind alles van textiel en geblazen glas tot aardewerk en leer voordat u lokale gerechten proeft in combinatie met verfrissende cocktails, speciaal bier of koffie. In tegenstelling tot standaard groepsreizen, kunt u met deze privéreis uw eigen interesses verkennen in uw eigen tempo. Je wordt begeleid door een privéchauffeur en een lokale Expert, Diego, een culturele Gids met een levenslange verbinding met beide gebieden.

We reizen door het hart van Tonala en ervaren de levendige markt, historische parochie en het levendige centrale plein. We krijgen een kijkje in de authentieke levensstijl van een traditionele arbeiderswijk. Daarna bezoeken we het stadhuis om inzicht te krijgen in de historische betekenis van Tonala en leren we over de inheemse culturen die zijn identiteit hebben gevormd. Tot slot bezoeken we de werkplaats en het huis van de familie Bernabe om een van de meest verfijnde keramische technieken ter wereld te bewonderen: barro petatillo.
We dwalen langs een betoverende laan die alleen toegankelijk is voor voetgangers, omzoomd met prachtige 19e-eeuwse herenhuizen die nu zijn omgetoverd tot stijlvolle boetieks, kunstgaleries, musea en uitnodigende restaurants. We hebben de mogelijkheid om de werken van gerenommeerde lokale kunstenaars te bewonderen, waaronder Sergio Bustamente, Agustín Parra en Rodo Padilla, in hun respectieve kunstgalerijen. We sluiten onze dag af met een uitgebreide lunch in het adembenemende Casa Luna, een restaurant versierd met de beste ambachten van Tlaquepaque en geprezen als een van de mooiste van Mexico. Als alternatief kunnen we de lokale voedselscene ervaren door te lunchen op de gemeentelijke markt, waar we kunnen genieten van traditionele gerechten bereid door lokale verkopers. Omdat dit een privétour is, kunnen we de ervaring afstemmen op uw interesses, of dat nu eten, architectuur, kunst, geschiedenis of een combinatie van alles is. Op elk moment kunnen we pauzeren voor koffie, speciaal bier, tequila of mezcal cocktails, of een hapje eten bij straatkraampjes.

My husband and I enjoyed our private tour with Diego. We stopped for an authentic breakfast in Tonala before touring the city and stopping at the Bernabé Family shop. The most amazing handmade, hand painted ceramics I have ever seen. Absolutely beautiful! Next, we went to Tlaquepaque where we toured the city and stopped for a traditional drink and snack and did a little shopping. Diego did a great job at explaining some of the important aspects and history of each town. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Diego met us right at our hotel and handled all the logistics seamlessly. Our first stop was Tonala, where we were able to explore the local community in a way that felt authentic and unhurried. Diego shared great insights into the town’s history and the local artisan culture. One of the highlights was visiting Bernabé Ceramics—truly one of the most impressive artist workshops I've ever seen. From there, we continued on to Tlaquepaque, where Diego curated a perfect balance of art and culture. We explored beautiful galleries and shops, had a fantastic lunch at one of the most stunning restaurants in the area (Casa Luna). What really stood out was how thoughtful and adaptable Diego was throughout the day—he paid attention to what we enjoyed and adjusted the experience in real time to make it even better. We had this tour with Diego and from the start he was extremely friendly, very knowledgeable about everything he showed us and an excellent guide. He was very aware of my mom who has trouble walking, all at our own pace and completely happy with the service. Fully recommended if you have the opportunity, it is completely worth it.

The experience of knowing the ceramic workshop of the Barnabas family was incredible, we really enjoyed knowing up close the process of creating these crafts. Tlaquepaque was also a destination we loved, we enjoyed the whole tour. Without a doubt the experience would not have been the same without Diego, a passionate guide to the history and culture of Guadalajara who was attentive at all times to us and answered all the questions we had. We hope to come back in the future and meet some other things that remained pending in Guadalajara.
