Tlakualli Food Tour

We booked the day before and were accomodated. It was a weekday so there weren't a lot of tourists so it was just the three of us. Oscar was very knowledgeable and speaks really good english. The food that we tasted were really good. We're originally from the Philippines and some of the fruits and sweets are the same as back home. The bebidas(drink) stop was one of the highlights and so as the main entree which was the Vaho. Definitely recommending this to anyone visiting leon.

Fantastic tour at Leon’s central market. Oscar is a passionate local with great knowledge of Nicaraguan food, culture and history. The tour starts with a brief introduction to the main town square, then moves to the market where you get to taste a variety of local fruit, savouries and even desserts. Would highly recommend for foodies and curious eaters.

Oscar is a connoisseur of everyday nicaraguan food and has an in depth knowledge of his country's history - there really was no question that he could not answer. Oscar was the exceptional guide we were lucky enough to have on this trip. He was very knowledgeable not only about the market, but Nicaragua as well. He was very attentive towards my 83 year old mother who has some mobility issues and uses a cane. He always warned her about steps and holes so she wouldn’t trip. He was also able to get her a place to sit when needed as well. I would highly recommend the tour as Oscar looks for the best fruit/products above all else. The fruits, the food and the drinks were delicious and we probably wouldn’t have tasted them without Oscar to guide us. Incredible tour and service,

We had a great experience with Oscar. We tried all the different food in the local market from a to z. Learned about the history of the food and went to several stalls. I dont think I would of ventured into the local market, were it not for the tour. But I went back the next day and sat down and enjoyed a delicious meal by myself. This is a must do!

Oscar was incredible! Get him as your guide if at all possible. He knows so much about the area and knows all of the people in Leon. He let us experience various foods, and when we asked questions about the church or the history, he had so much knowledge! He is very laid-back and is a gifted at what he does. My 19 year old son and I had a blast!!

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! It was easily the best thing I did in Leon. Oscar is highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He was very good at building connections among the group. If you're thinking about it, just book it!
