Tirana City tour vanuit Skopje (met een stop in Ohrid)

Tijdens deze tour kunt u de grote verschillen tussen Macedonië en Albanië bewonderen, in het landschap, de cultuur, de kunst ... Tot voor kort was Albanië een zeer gesloten land en nu is het een populaire reisbestemming. Hoewel het een langere rit is, is het de moeite waard.

De kathedraal is gewijd aan de Heilige Wijsheid, gebouwd op de fundamenten van een vroegchristelijke basiliek en het werd gerenoveerd en versierd met fresco's in de tijd van de aartsbisschop Leo in de periode tussen 1037 en 1056.
Staand op een klif met uitzicht op het meer van Ohrid, boven de vissersplaats Kaneo, is de architectuur een combinatie van Byzantijnse en Armeense elementen.
Boven de ingang van het museum bevindt zich een groot mozaïek met de titel The Albanians dat vermeende oude tot moderne figuren uit de geschiedenis van Albanië weergeeft. Het museum omvat de volgende paviljoens: het paviljoen van de oudheid, de middeleeuwen, de renaissance, de onafhankelijkheid, de iconografie, de antifascistische oorlog van de nationale bevrijding, de communistische terreur en moeder Teresa.
Wat ooit bedoeld was om Hoxha en zijn kabinet te beschermen in geval van een nucleaire aanval, is nu een kunst- en cultuurcentrum voor gemengd gebruik, maar met een scherp oog voor het behoud en de herinnering aan de donkere jaren onder Hoxha's heerschappij.

It was a lovely but long day. We started at 7am and I didn’t get back to my hotel until after 10pm. So if you’re okay with that the tour was a great way to see the countryside and learn more about the cities and countries. My driver was EPIC and we talked about life in two different parts of the world. It was really a lovely trip.
A fantastic experience and highly recommended. Our guide, Petrit, picked us up and made the day very comfortable and enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable about each place. It was a very long day but that's because Tirana is very far from Skopje! However, it was worth it to get to Albania. The itinerary was perfect, just enough time in each place. Well worth it!

I was able to understand different cultures between Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Albania; the tour guide was excellent in helping to understand the historical background among these countries
With our excellent guide we took a few hours driving to Ohrid and Tirana. I was pleasantly surprised of Ohrid. The view from the Ancient theatre to the lake is great. In Tirana we started from the central square, at the statue of Skanderbeg and spent the next two hours learning about the center of Tirana and the local sites. It is an interesting city. Do not forget to bring camera!!!

i modified the itinerary to go Tirana direct and later stop by Ohrid. the journey to Tirana is long (6 hours drive). most of the road condition is ok except the part from Border to Elbasan. not lucky there were a few slow driving truck in front and costs a lot of time. Driver and guide are very professional which makes the trip much more easier. Tirana is a very modern city which contrast to my expectation. both countries are improving the roads.
