Thessaloniki: Griekse kookles, marktbezoek en lunch

We thoroughly enjoyed doing a little market shopping (having Thomas along proved incredibly helpful) and then the experience of cooking up some local favorites! A fun addition to our Thessaloniki visit!

Casual fun experience with a friendly and informative guide. Easy walking tour of the market with friendly and helpful vendors. Cooking in the group setting was fun but the meal was even more enjoyable after making a new group of friends.

We had a wonderful experience with our tour guide Konstantina. First we went to the market to shop for our ingredients. We made a few stops at local stores to be educated on the quality of olives/ olive oil - very interesting facts. Also we were able to try some specialties along the way, such as cheese, greek bread, tomato carpacio, and olives - delicious. The restaurant we cooked at was really artsy and cozy - our chef was great. The dishes we prepared can easily be done at home. At the end of our experience we were able to eat our cooked dishes while getting some local insights from Konstantina. My sister and I had a great day (plan 3-4 hours) and would recommend it.

One of the best experiences we tried in our trip. You meet local people while shopping at the market place. So interesting and full of new ideas about cooking. It's a perfect way to learn the greek recipes and the history about food. Must do!!!

What an absolute banger! By far the highlight of our visit in Thessaloniki. The market is 100% authentic with local products everywhere. The food we prepared and ate is probably the best I had so far in Greece. Super chill and welcoming guide and chef!

This was a wonderful experience! I appreciated Maria's obvious love of Greek cuisine, culture and history, which she shared freely as we shopped at the market. I learned a lot. Helping to prepare the meal was enjoyable too. From beginning to end, everything was delicious. I will try to remember chef Kosta's helpful tips. Thank you, all, for a memorable afternoon!

This cooking class was wonderful - our guide was welcoming, knowledgeable and fun. Enjoyed the market tours immensely, the history and the tastings...then we cooked guided by an excellent chef and our tour guide... good memories and the little booklet of the recipes was a cherry on the top!

I had a wonderful tour of not one, but two open air markets to buy fresh ingredients which were used to cook lunch. The cooking class was loads of fun and I learned some new techniques for making Gemista. I also made Dolmadakia for the very first time - way cool! And, of course, I got to enjoy a delicious traditional Greek lunch … which I helped make! Best of all, Maria, my tour guide was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, personable, and a lot of fun. I highly recommend this Greek Cooking Class for anyone interested in learning more about Greek food and Thessaloniki.
