De musical Lion King vertelt het Hamlet-achtige verhaal van Simba, de prins van Afrikaanse leeuwen, die zijn slechte oom Scar strijdt voor de troon. Maar voordat Simba zijn rechtmatige plaats in de "Circle of Life" kan innemen, groeit hij op met zijn twee leuke vrienden, wiskrakend meerkat Timon en stinkend wrattenzwijn Pumbaa. Samen leren ze Simba hun levensfilosofie, "Hakuna Matata" (No Worries). Gebaseerd op de Disney-film uit 1994 en boek van Roger Allers en Irene Mecchi, bevat de musical het Oscar-winnende nummer 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight'. Aanvullende nummers zijn van Hans Zimmer, Lebo M, Mark Mancina en Jay Rifkin. This was an overall great experience, both the booking experience with Viator and the Broadway show itself. I would highly recommend this show to people, especially those with kids (as the kids would really love the characters and how it was been performed on stage).
Sean and LaShonda went above and beyond to work their magic, handling everything seamlessly and securing me a replacement seat for the very next show. The way they turned a stressful situation completely around was truly epic. The show itself was breathtaking, but the exceptional kindness and outstanding service from Sean and LaShonda are what made the trip unforgettable. Huge thanks to both of them for saving the day!
This Broadway show has been something I've wanted to see for years. I finally was able to go to NYC to see Lion King. Excellent! We enjoyed the pageantry, music, plot, costumes, and of course the actors. They did an fantastic job. The costumes were amazing!
Initially I was skeptical about spending so much to attend a show, but then I thought it would be that extra experience on our trip to New York. Never a better choice, in hindsight I can say it was the most beautiful experience of the trip, which was already full of beautiful things. A show of the highest level, so moving that I couldn't hold back my tears. I can therefore say that it is worth the money spent.
We loved it, we had been wanting to go see an iconic Broadway play for a long time and we could not miss seeing The Lion King, a true classic. Everything was perfect, from the entrance to the theater where they help people with reduced mobility. The seats were comfortable, the view of the stage was super good and we enjoyed it to the fullest. It is incredible how the sounds and the music are made right there live and in person with a team of musicians prepared for the show. This show is world-class where the professionalism of the artists, the staging, and the costumes stand out. Must-see show on Broadway.
Everyone loved it! We had such a great time! It was funny and sad and the actors were so good! The costums and music also very creative and amazing! Even my youngest, who gets bored quickly, was attentive the whole time. Really a great experience! Thank you!
We took our 7 year old (her first Broadway show), and the Lion King did not disappoint. I recommend it as a great first Broadway experience. However, I am surprised by the other reviewers who talk positively about the wheelchair accessible seating. I use a wheelchair and was seated in the back row. All other seats in the theater have steps to get to them. I knew when I purchased the tickets that the theater does not have any other wheelchair seating closer to the stage. This is frustrating, but what made our experience terrible was the ushers sat people in the last row (the accessible seating row) and the 2nd to last row for the first 30 minutes of the show. They talked loudly to the people who they were seating. They opened the door to the lobby, throwing light into the theater repeatedly. They used lights on their phones to guide people in. At one point, the row in front of me had to stand up while at least 8 people went into their seats. I could not focus on the show and was distracted for many scenes. This was really disappointing. I spoke to a manager who said that all ticket holders have a right to their seat and to enter when they wish. I pointed out that the theater has signs saying management can seat latecomers at their discretion. The 2nd act was much better because there weren't any distractions. Bottom line, to preserve the experience of people who need the accessible seats, the theater should not seat latecomers during the show.
Though not a huge broadway fan and this being my first show I was amazed at how visually appealing Lion King was. It was jaw dropping in visual imagery. I’ll confess I didn’t get into the musical aspect as much and even so couldn’t understand the words but the everything else made it so worth it. On a negative note the seating comfort was dismal, cramped and difficult to exit to a row if needed. Be prepared to suffer a little.

A wonderful musical, even better than last time I saw it. Even a seat in ‘the orchestra’ (or stalls) which meant I couldn’t see the whole stage didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the show, especially as characters came down through the audience. Highly recommended!
