I thoroughly enjoyed the trip to the hill country to taste the famous Texas BBQ and do some wine tasting. We visited 3 wineries and had the chance to sample 5 or 6 wines in each of them. I bought 3 bottles of my favorites. The selection of BBQ place was excellent (the famous Salt Lick) and we wisely visited there prior to the wine tasting. The 2 guides (Moe and Koh) were very nice and lots of fun. I highly recommend tours with this company.
This activity was cancelled the morning of by the Longhorn and with the automated messages, we were under the impression we could still book since it allowed us to and I got a confirmation after rebooking. I called several times to confirm, and went straight to voicemail. Viator reached out and they also got no response. I still got refunded for both trips, but the lack of communication, the day of cancellation, and no kind of apology just turned me off as we had to adjust our day and find another wine trip for the next day. This is probably a spectacular trip as wine country in Texas is amazing and I just feel bad that I did not get to experience it here.
Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry you weren't able to join us. Unfortunately, an API issue on Viator's booking system allowed additional reservations to come through after our vehicle had already reached capacity. The cancellation was initiated by Viator, not Longhorn Wine Tours, after the overbooking issue occurred, and Viator subsequently processed the refunds. We do apologize for the difficulty reaching us that morning. We were working to address the unexpected booking issue, but we understand how frustrating the situation and lack of communication must have been while you were trying to confirm your plans. We appreciate your kind words about our tour despite not getting the opportunity to experience it. We hope you'll give Longhorn Wine Tours another opportunity on a future visit to Texas Wine Country.
Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgable. I booked this experience for my husbands birthday and we had so much fun! The wine vineyards were great. We bought a few bottles of wine to take home that’s how much we liked it. Our group was super fun and funny!! We had a great time!!
Relaxing environment traveling to the Hill Country for very good food & wine choices. Driver Mo was wonderful!
One of the highlights of the tour was visiting Wimberley Valley Winery. Their rare blue wine was something truly unique and unlike anything I had seen before. The drive through the Texas Hill Country was beautiful, with rolling hills and plenty of wildlife along the way, including deer and other animals. The BBQ stop was the perfect way to finish the day with some authentic Texas flavor. Overall, a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend!
Had an amazing time on the Texas Hill Country Wine & BBQ Tour! One thing I really liked was the pickup location at 7-Eleven. It gave everyone a chance to grab snacks, drinks, coffee, or use the restroom before heading out for the day, which made the start of the trip very convenient. The wineries were beautiful, the wine tastings were excellent, and the BBQ stop was a perfect Texas experience. Everything was well organized, relaxed, and enjoyable from start to finish. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Austin!
I really enjoyed visiting the vineyards on this tour. The wineries were beautiful, and the wine-tasting experience was the highlight of the day. Unfortunately, my experience at Salt Lick was disappointing. The sides were not very tasty, although the meat was good. My biggest concern was the payment process. Our group consisted of about 10 people, many of whom were complete strangers, yet the restaurant would only split the bill four ways. This created a very awkward situation where we had to exchange Cash App and Venmo information, put charges on one person's card, and then reimburse each other. This is something tour participants should be made aware of in advance so they can plan accordingly. I was also uncomfortable with the meeting location. We were instructed to meet at a 7-Eleven in an area that felt unsafe, with several homeless individuals nearby. In addition, we had to leave our vehicles parked on the street in paid parking spaces for the duration of the tour, which was concerning. Overall, the vineyards made the trip worthwhile, but there are several logistical issues that could be improved to provide a better experience for future guests.
Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed the vineyards and wine-tasting experience. Regarding the meeting location, we understand it may seem unusual if you’re not familiar with how many tour companies operate in Austin. The 7-Eleven serves as a convenient meeting point where guests can purchase snacks, use the restroom, and gather before departure. Similar pickup arrangements are commonly used by many tour operators in the area. As for Salt Lick, each guest is responsible for paying for their own meal. While guests travel together, individual food bills are not combined or split by our company . We appreciate your suggestion and will consider providing guests with more information about the restaurant’s payment policies in advance so they can plan accordingly. Thank you again for joining us and for taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback helps us continue improving the tour for future guests.
Guide was very attentive and friendly. Maybe cutting down to 2 winerys would have given us more relaxation time
Great tour and alex the driver was a great driver.
