Of je nu een dierenliefhebber, een nieuwsgierige reiziger of een gezin bent dat op zoek is naar een unieke ervaring, deze tour biedt een onvergetelijke verbinding met de natuur, dieren en landelijke tradities. U zult in staat zijn om te zien en te leren over een familie melkveebedrijf, typisch Azoren, met gelukkige vrije uitloop koeien! Daar kun je aan de slag, zelf melken, de melk proeven en de kalveren voeren! Daarnaast proef je lokale kaas en brood. De eerste stop is een uitzichtpunt waar u een enorm gebied met weelderige groene boerderijvelden ziet, vervolgens gaan we naar de boerderij waar u wordt verwelkomd door de bezienswaardigheden en geluiden van het authentieke boerenleven. Daar leer je over het melkproces en het leven van een melkveehouder. Kom het hart van het platteland van de Azoren verkennen en zie hoe melk zijn reis van weiland naar fles maakt. Doe mee en ervaar het rustige ritme van het leven op een traditioneel melkveebedrijf!

We beginnen met een stop in Serra do Cume Viewpoint, waar u kunt genieten van het uitzicht op de groene velden.

Wonderful experience to witness one of the last generations of dairy farmers on the island. Very educational tour of the family farm and community. Our tour guide even included local food on a break and it was so delicious! Getting to view the farmers perspective on milking his cattle, taking the milk to a milking drop off station and doing it again twice a day really allows you to experience the dedication this island has to offer. 100/100 would book again!

We had the most incredible dairy farm experience with Carolina — an authentic, hands-on day that we'll be talking about for a long time. We were first driven to a scenic overlook, which really showed the magnitude of dairy farming in Terceira. Then we were taken to the field to meet the dairy farmer, a farmhand, and of course, the cows. This wasn’t just a tour where you stand back and watch though. We were invited right into the action. We were able to interact with the cows and the calves, which were absolutely adorable, and actually milk a cow ourselves. We even got to drink the fresh milk right there in the field! Carolina patiently explained the entire process and answered our many questions, the farmer showed us how to milk properly, and they made sure both we (and the cow) were safe and comfortable the whole time. We then followed the proces from cleanup to drop off of the milk as well as the feeding of the "teenage cows" which we got to help with. We even had a bit of a party of cheese and bread for the ultimate conclusion of an excellent day. Everyone involved was amazing, we learned so much, and the experience really highlighted the extensive amount of work that goes into the process that we take for granted when we usually just grab a container from the grocery store shelf. Being up close with such large, gentle animals was special. You could really see their personalities — some curious and eager, others contentedly chewing and watching the world go by. It gave us a new appreciation for the care and dedication required to keep a farm running. What made the experience exceptional was the warmth of the people running it. They were welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their animals and their work. Nothing felt staged or commercialized — just real farm life shared generously with visitors. If you’re looking for something authentic, educational, and surprisingly heartwarming, this dairy farm experience is absolutely worth it. We left with big smiles and a whole new respect for farmers everywhere. 🐄
