Een bezoek aan Al Khor, gelegen op 50 kilometer ten noorden van de hoofdstad Doha. Beschouwd als een van de grootste steden van Qatar. Al Khor is de thuisbasis van veel werknemers van de olie-industrie vanwege de nabijheid van de noordelijke olie- en aardgasvelden van Qatar en de industriële stad Ras Laffan.
Stop bij het Purple Island, ook wel bekend als Jazirat bin Ghanim, op ongeveer een uur rijden van Doha. Het is een klein eiland, verbonden met het vasteland door een smal pad dat op verschillende punten is onderbroken om het water naar het mangrovebos te laten stromen.
Gelegen op ongeveer 35-40 km van Doha, is het strand van Al Thakira een ideale locatie om te zwemmen, zonnebaden of een relaxte dag op het strand door te brengen. Het strand biedt een sereen uitzicht op de grootste en oudste dichte mangrovereservaten van Qatar.
Al Zubarah is de grootste archeologische erfgoedsite van Qatar. Het werd in 2013 uitgeroepen tot UNESCO-werelderfgoed en is het best bewaarde voorbeeld van een 18e-19e-eeuws handels- en parelvisserijstadje in de Golfregio. In tegenstelling tot zijn tijdgenoten is het grotendeels intact gebleven en is het niet verloren gegaan onder de uitgestrekte moderne steden in de regio. De site, gelegen op ongeveer 100 km ten noordwesten van Doha, strekt zich 2,5 km uit van het Al Zubarah Fort tot aan de kust. Gesticht in het midden van de achttiende eeuw, ontwikkelde de stad zich tot de grootste en belangrijkste nederzetting van het land. Het succes trok de aandacht van andere Golfmachten en na verschillende aanvallen werd de stad in 1811 platgebrand. In de eerste decennia van de 20e eeuw werd het verlaten. Tegenwoordig beslaat de site een gebied van 60 hectare met overblijfselen van huizen, Masajid (moskeeën), Madhabis (dadelpersen), grote, versterkte gebouwen en een markt.

The Tour was very pleasant with the guide driver with whom we made it. He explained everything well and provided us with water and of course, invested us to a typical tea of the country. We visited Purple Island and Al Zubarak Fort. El Tour del Norte.
It was a very nice and pleasant walk with Zoahib, in English, explained many things and adapted the tour to our tastes, we had a great time with him and we could know several spectacular sites

Great chance to get out of Doha and see some of historic Qatar. My guide Zohaib was knowledgeable and friendly! Be aware, the shuttle to the village does not run on Fridays.

My tour guide Zohaid knows the lay of the land and was very helpful in pointing out notable structures, places and their significance. He also knows the history very well. He was able to give insight to the structures and locations; and was also nice and polite. I liked the views of the ruins of the old city - Al Jmeil and I definitely enjoyed reading the history of Al Zubara. The Mangroves were okay too.

The North Qatar 🇶🇦 tour should be included in everyone else’s bucket list! It’s absolutely amazing. You can learn so much about the history of Qatar, how and when it all begin! My Private tour was absolutely incredible. I have been picked up and dropped off via beautiful 4X4 car. My tour guide Ali was very knowledgeable, patient, encouraging , helpful and with a good sense of humour. He walk with me together with each stop that we made, took a lot of beautiful photos and even when I wanted to take an extra time to explore Al Zubair, he never ever rushed me. This tour is a perfect way to see the country’s important cultural sites and do it comfortably! Our tour guide (driver) Irfan was very easy to talk to, rearranged the tour plan so we could make best use of our limited time to see (before closing) the fort and ancient site of Al Zubarah and come in time for sunset at Mangroves and Purple Island!

It was a very bad experience. First of all. The Purple Island isn't as it's seems in the photos. It doesn't have any water. Then because a reason that I didn't know, we arrive one hour late to the Fort, so we can't get into the facilities as the tour arrive one hour late. More than a tour this is a scam. I need the tour give me back my money. I don't pay just to go around the dessert.
