Ga verder naar Suganuma Village, een compact gehucht aan de rivier dat bekend staat om zijn bewaard gebleven gassho-zukuri huizen. We enjoyed the visits to the Unesco villages so much. Our friendly guide Harry is very enthousiastic and knows a lot about the history and culture. He is the best!

We visit the most beautiful historic villages there, from the smallest to the largest and famous Shirakawa, because it is interesting to see more than just this historic village. Hemi was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. We were very fortunate to have him give us additional information on each village. Our favorite village was Ainokura. It was smaller, less crowded and the traditional paper making experience was fun. Shirakawa-go was amazing and did not disappoint. The only drawback was the large group of 14. When we booked the tour, it was supposed to be only 5 persons. So instead of enjoying a nice lunch, we picked up lunch at Lawsons and ate en route to the next village, Suganuma.
