De Taj Mahal 'Crown of the Palace' is een ivoorwitmarmeren mausoleum op de rechteroever van de rivier de Yamuna in de Indiase stad Agra. Het werd in 1632 in opdracht van de Mughal-keizer Shah Jahan (reg. 1628-1658) gebouwd om het graf van zijn favoriete vrouw, Mumtaz Mahal, te huisvesten; het herbergt ook het graf van Shah Jahan zelf. Het graf is het middelpunt van een 17 hectare groot complex, dat een moskee en een pension omvat, en is gelegen in formele tuinen die aan drie zijden worden begrensd door een gekanteelde muur.

Imran Alikhan told us everything about the Taj Mahal, the history but also about India as a country. His English is very good and he is proactive in guiding. I would recommend him.
It’s a totally doable tour for sure. The peace the place has, is something that always has been a bit of food for the soul. To see the iconic Taj Mahal, with a private guide who went at our pace and of course, answered all our questions as well. Viator had fixed the tour via Markable Tours who have offices in Delhi and Agra. The Guide we were assigned was Ankur Sharma, who was simply amazing. He has a very easy manner and a very nice way of explaining things. He took us to spots in the Taj Mahal complex which made our trip all the more interesting. Even though we have been here several times before, we got to learn new and important aspects of this very beautiful monument. He kept us engaged while giving us the space to take in the place and the beauty of the setting and construction, which is a difficult thing to do, for sure Even though it is touted as a monument to love, I believe it is a monument built by architects and builders, who were perhaps spiritual sort of persons and cared deeply about building a structure with the right energies. Seeing it with Ankur Sharma made it all the more enjoyable.
