Dit is geen typische bar- of brouwerijtour – het is een verhalende ervaring die zich afspeelt in de historische Whiskey Row van Tacoma. Aan de hand van live verhalen en Robert Service-poëzie stap je in het leven van de spoorwegarbeiders, houthakkers en zeelieden die deze grensstad hebben gebouwd. Met drankjes inbegrepen, combineert de ervaring geschiedenis, sfeer en prestaties om iets meeslepends, gedenkwaardigs en unieks te creëren Tacoma. De avond begint in het historische Olympus Hotelgebouw, waar u kunt genieten van een cocktail, bier of wijn naar keuze op het Forum terwijl u leert hoe Tacoma transformeerde van een ruwe spoorwegbuitenpost in de "Stad van het Lot". Van daaruit verkennen we Whiskey Row, waarbij we verhalen ontdekken over saloons, vicedistricten en de personages die het vroege Tacoma hebben gevormd. We verkennen ook het unieke interieur van de opmerkelijke McMenamins Elks Temple voordat we afsluiten in Odd Otter, Tacoma's meest grillige brouwerij, waar een spannend spel een echt onvergetelijke avond afsluit.

Gasten beginnen de tour in het historische Olympus Hotel gebouw, de thuisbasis van The Forum, in het hart van de oorspronkelijke Whiskey Row van Tacoma. Hier introduceert uw Gids het grensverleggende verhaal van de oprichting van Tacoma, toen spoorwegarbeiders, zeelieden en houthakkers de saloons van deze bloeiende havenstad vulden. Omringd door de sfeer van een van Tacoma's meest gedenkwaardige gebouwen, genieten gasten van een klassiek "biertje en een maatje" - een Rainier lange jongen gecombineerd met een shot whisky - die de drinkcultuur van de arbeidersklasse uit die tijd weerspiegelt. De tour eindigt in de historische Elks Temple, een groots gebouw uit 1916 dat nu meerdere bars en verborgen ruimtes herbergt. Bij deze laatste halte bezoeken gasten een van de unieke bars van het gebouw terwijl de Gids Tacoma's ervaring tijdens de drooglegging verkent - toen saloons ondergronds werden gedwongen, bootlegging floreerde en het 'open' karakter van de stad werd getest, maar nooit volledig verdween. Je hoort verhalen over speakeasies, handhavingsinspanningen en hoe de drinkcultuur van Tacoma zich in die tijd heeft aangepast. Gasten genieten van een laatste drankje terwijl ze nadenken over hoe de drooglegging het sociale leven van Whiskey Row heeft veranderd, maar nooit heeft gewist.
Gasten bezoeken een lokale ambachtelijke brouwerij in het hart van het centrum van Tacoma om de diepgewortelde brouwgeschiedenis van de stad te verkennen. Hier volgt uw Gids de biercultuur van Tacoma van vroege grenssaloons en arbeiderscafés via de drooglegging tot aan de hedendaagse ambachtelijke opleving. Je leert hoe brouwen verbonden was met het dagelijks leven van houthakkers, zeelieden en spoorwegarbeiders die de stad mede vorm gaven. What a fun evening, learning about Tacoma history. The highlight, by far, was the tour of the amazing Elks Temple.
A trip through Tacoma with Kyle as your guide is truly transcendent! Kyle is a master storyteller and historian and brings the history of the city to life as you stroll it's streets As a lifelong resident of the Tacoma area I had hoped to learn a few fun tidbits about the town but left with a new appreciation for Tacoma and it's founders. The establishments Kyle takes you through on the tour are full of character and history and each stop is unique for both it's story and it's food & drink. The tour is the perfect blend of sight seeing, history, kinship, and wonderful food/drink. We are already looking forward to our next trip with PNW Adventures and Tours, thanks Kyle!
We had a fantastic time with our tour guide, Kyle, learning about the history of Whiskey Row and experiencing some of the establishments along the way. Kyle was incredibly knowledgeable — not just about the history, but he answered every question we threw at him and even regaled us with stories and poetry. The pacing was perfect, with just enough time at each stop to learn about it and actually enjoy it. We did this as a double date, but could easily see it being a great time for groups of any size. We had a blast learning, drinking, and playing games together. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to learn something new and have a great time.

This was a perfect Father's Day Gift that we all enjoyed! We learned about Tacoma's rich history, sipped curated cocktails (and N/A beverages) and saw Grit City with new eyes. Kyle was the perfect guide, bringing just the right energy with his story telling and poetry. This is a unique and easygoing tour that provides an interesting glance into Tacoma history. It was a chill evening activity that I'd definitely recommend to people with any sort of interest in the area or its origins. The guide, Kyle, is evidently extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Tacoma and this shines through in every moment of the tour. He was very friendly, and he was more than capable of answering any questions the group could throw at him. The guide took us across three main locations, with detours and tales of Tacoma history interspersed throughout. The tour began at the forum where we learned about Tacoma as the terminus for the Transcontinental Railroad in the late 19th century. We took a stroll over to Old City Hall & Fawcett's Faucet before going up the Spanish steps, exploring McMenamins before ending the tour at Odd Otter. No matter how much prior knowledge you have about Tacoma going into the experience, with the tour looking at such a specific bitesize snapshot of history, it remains accessible and interesting regardless. I think there's definitely an enjoyable experience here whether you're visiting the area or if you're a local. Also, even though it's a drinks tour, I don't drink, and I can still say that I feel I had a complete experience. Suffice to say, the inebriating tales of Tacoma history and my trusty dusty soda water were more than enough to quench my thirst.

Kyle helped us see the city we’ve lived in for more than a decade through new eyes. He showed us hidden landmarks, told stories of the founders of the city, and even by recited poetry from that time. By the end of the tour we had a new appreciation for the Tacoma and a real understanding of how it became the city it is today. Kyle is an expert tour guide and this experience is not to be missed!

This was my second tour with Kyle and I have to say it was another great time. I have traveled extensively and the one thing that is missing is a sense of camaraderie. It may seem a small thing in the scheme of being a tourist: however Kyle has masterfully found a way to keep everyone engaged and happy, a sense of belonging and a spirit of fun.
