Het drijvende dorp Kampong Phluk ligt 31 kilometer ten oosten van Siem Reap, genesteld tussen weelderige, vaak overstroomde mangroven. Dit vissersdorp staat bekend om zijn karakteristieke paalwoningen en biedt een steeds veranderend landschap vanwege de natte en droge seizoenen in Cambodja. Tijdens het regenseizoen (juli tot maart ) stijgt het waterpeil en reist de lokale bevolking per boot. In het droge seizoen, wat wandelen is vereist. Tijdens deze tour met kleine groepen krijg je een close-up van de unieke levensstijl en cultuur van deze Zuidoost-Aziatische merengemeenschap. Bij Kampong Phluk springen we in een boot en verkennen we de prachtige waterwegen en charmante huizen op palen. In het droge seizoen kun je de watermerken op de balken zien die laten zien hoe hoog het water stijgt, en in het natte seizoen zie je de dorpelingen en vissers per boot hun werk doen.
Uitgaan op de Tonle Sap zelf is een zeer rustgevende ervaring dankzij het stille water dat de horizon bereikt zover u kunt kijken. We sluiten de dag af met een drankje (en diner, als je dat wilt) in een traditioneel drijvend restaurant om de zon te zien ondergaan boven het meer.

Nice tour, short and comfortable. Guide Tom did a good job on keeping the guests informed and entertained throughout the afternoon!
I had a great experience. It was way better than I expected. To see the village, meet the people and see how they work was incredible. Even though their life might be hard, they don't see it like that and they are very happy. Our tour guide Tom explained everything and showed us around. He actually lives in one of the villages which made it even more valuable, because he showed us the life he lives.

A fantastic experience not to be missed. Our guide Tom was an exceptional guide, very informative about his home village and the differences between daily life in the wet and dry seasons. Whilst we only saw the village without water we still found it extremely interesting- a beautiful village with beautiful people. Tom was friendly, chatty and gave detailed answers to all questions . The afternoon was topped off with a lovely meal and sunset over the Tonle sap lake, at the floating restaurant. Thank you also to the bus driver who ensured a safe and comfortable journey with the added care of refreshing wipes and cold water at suitable breaks.

Very good and informative tour. I was there at the beginning of the rainy season, which means the village was dry. And it is super exciting to see what it looks like "down below." A visit is worth it, whether by boat or on foot. Our guide Tom had great videos and showed us the places where we were during the rainy season.
