Ontdek de Maya Face Mountain (internationaal bekend als Indian's Nose), beroemd vanwege een van de meest sublieme uitzichten en foto's, niet alleen in Guatemala, maar in heel Latijns-Amerika. Vanaf de top kunt u genieten van een adembenemend panorama: het majestueuze bassin van het Atitlánmeer, bewaakt door drie vulkanen: de San Pedro-vulkaan, de Atitlán-vulkaan en de Tolimán-vulkaan. Op heldere dagen is het spektakel nog groter en kunt u in de verte de indrukwekkende vulkanen Fuego, Acatenango en Agua, gelegen nabij Antigua Guatemala, zien. We ontmoeten elkaar in het charmante stadje San Pedro, een levendige plaats met alles wat je nodig hebt. Ben je de dag ervoor aangekomen? Geniet van de knusse hotels, heerlijke restaurants en charmante cafés. Zodra de groep er klaar voor is, stappen we in de bus of auto en rijden we naar het beginpunt van het pad. Maak je klaar om te ontdekken!
Onze tour gaat verder naar San Juan, dat officieel is aangewezen als "Pueblo Mágico" dankzij zijn unieke schoonheid en levendige cultuur. Dit toeristische stadje is beroemd om zijn kleurrijke straten en artistieke muurschilderingen en biedt allerlei voorzieningen: accommodatie, restaurants, koffiebars, bars en reisbureaus. Vervoer wordt verzorgd door onze speciale bus.
De klim naar de top: een spectaculaire beloning. Onze bus brengt ons naar het pittoreske en unieke stadje Santa Clara, een verborgen schat aan de voet van de imposante rotsformatie die bekendstaat als "The Mayan Head" of, voor toeristen, "The Indian's Nose". Vanaf dit punt beginnen we aan het meest uitdagende en lonende deel van ons avontuur: een 45 minuten durende wandeling bergopwaarts. Hoewel de afstand kort is, wordt het terrein als moeilijk beschouwd en is een goede fysieke conditie vereist. De inspanning zal de moeite waard zijn als u de top bereikt, die op 2.260 meter boven zeeniveau ligt. Vanaf dit natuurlijke uitkijkpunt wordt u beloond met een van de mooiste panoramische uitzichten die u zich kunt voorstellen. Het is het perfecte moment om onvergetelijke foto's te maken en u te verbinden met de natuur in haar puurste vorm.
Na een busrit van 35 minuten en een veeleisende maar lonende wandeling van 45 minuten bereiken we het doel van ons avontuur: de hoogste top van de berg, ook wel bekend als "De Neus". Hier, op het dak van de regio, zullen we getuige zijn van een ongeëvenaard natuurschouwspel: de magie van de zonsopgang. We zien de zon langzaam opkomen boven de horizon en de lucht bedekken met goud- en oranjetinten die worden weerspiegeld in het water van het majestueuze meer van Atitlán. We genieten 70 minuten lang van dit paradijs. Deze tijd gebruiken we om: Ontdek de pittoreske dorpjes rondom het meer. Ontdek de fascinerende geschiedenis en mythen rondom dit heilige meer. Ontdek de imposante vulkanen van Atitlán en op een heldere dag kunt u zelfs in de verte de vulkanen spotten die Antigua Guatemala bewaken. Dit moment van verbinding met de natuur en cultuur van bovenaf zal ongetwijfeld de meest blijvende herinnering aan uw reis zijn.

Absolutely horrible. I was with my kids and we were joined by 3 other members. While on the beginning I fell down the side of the mountain and sprained my ankle. One of the other female members began making fun of me and my daughter heard her. Then the owner of the tour denied my refund stating I was already injured and took the risk meanwhile I was not injured. So now I paid $129 to be injured not complete the tour and me made fun of. If I could I would rate this 0 stars
Hello! We are very sorry about what happened, but one of your children mentioned to our guide and other travelers that you were already injured even before attempting the hike. It is unfortunate that you tried to place the blame entirely on us, given that we had arranged exclusive private transportation for you and your children; our bus took your family to the San Juan dock just 15 minutes after the hike began, because you decided not to continue—claiming, in order to justify your decision, that you had been injured after walking for only 10 minutes. We incur costs for guides and transportation regardless of the outcome, which is why we were unable to issue a refund; furthermore, in all the years we have been running this hike, no one has ever been injured—certainly not within the first 10 minutes. We are very sorry and hope you recover soon; we will take your feedback into account to improve our tours.
The tour was well organized and we were able to book the private boat from Santa Cruz which made an early morning more seamless - one of our favorite activities from our visit to Lake Atitlan!

Loved the experience from start to finish. It was great to have a guide organize the transport to the hike spot and then accompany us. It would be impossible to do on our own. The best part was the hot chocolate at the top with the sunrise!

I booked this trip with my son while visiting Guatemala. We were picked up on time and transported to the starting point of the hike, which all went smoothly. However, once the hike began, the pace was extremely fast. The conditions were challenging — very humid, hot, and with thinner air at altitude. The group was made up of people in their early 20s, apart from me. While I’m a fit, active and well-travelled 60-year-old, it wasn’t realistic to think I could keep up with the pace being set. I was only falling behind by a few minutes, yet the group moved on ahead both on the ascent and the descent, which made the experience feel stressful rather than enjoyable. At one point the guide asked if I was “ok” in a way that felt more alarmed than supportive, as though he thought I was about to collapse, rather than recognising that someone 40 years older than the rest of the group may naturally need slightly more time. The scenery and overall concept of the trip were excellent, but the experience felt rushed, pressurised and uncomfortable. I would strongly recommend this tour only to younger travellers or very fast hikers, unless the company is willing to adapt the pace more appropriately for mixed-age groups.

Great experience!! The driver picked us up on the doorstep of our hotel at 3:50am. After picking up other travelers along the way we parked at the bottom of the climb and started our trek in the dark (make sure to bring a headlamp or a flashlight as this tour didn't provide any!). It was about a 45min climb up a well maintained path. It gets steep at parts but nothing too bad overall. The guide didn't talk a whole lot but he was kind and did his best to answer specific questions. The view at the top was breathtaking. Enjoy the included coffee and hot chocolate and watch the sun rise above the horizon and light up the lake, hills, and towns below.

Nice early start to get there before the crowds, steep ascent to the top, but Jeffrey our guide asked us regularly if we wanted to rest. When we got to the top we were offered Coffee and bread, which was welcomed by us all. Then the main act to watch a beautiful sunrise over Lake Atitilan - unbelievable views and loads of snaps to be had. A fantastic experience for us alll!!! Oh and we saw two volcanoes erupting with small plumes of smoke!!!!

Our guide was communicative and went at our pace. We needed to take many breaks but he was helpful and had no issues with it! The company itself was difficult to reach to confirm pickup location and time but after contacting Viator support they reached out immediately. Overall it was good and I’d book again.
