Sugarloaf - Wandeling en gemakkelijke klim langs de kust van Sugarloaf

Een compleet andere tour naar de top van de meest iconische berg van Brazilië! In plaats van de kabelbaan te nemen, bereiken we de 396 meter hoge top van Sugarloaf Mountain via een pad en een gemakkelijk klimgedeelte - altijd met een prachtig uitzicht over de stad! Deze route werd voor het eerst veroverd in 1817 door de Engelse Henrietta Carstairs, en nu in 2024 kun je in haar voetsporen treden! Met volledige ondersteuning van een gids gecertificeerd door het Ministerie van Toerisme, getraind in klimmen en eerste hulp in de wildernis, alle veiligheidsuitrusting gecertificeerd en een persoonlijke verzekering voor elke deelnemer! Sugarloaf Mountain wacht op je voor deze adembenemende natuurervaring. Klaar voor dit avontuur? Opmerking: Dit is een wandeling voor gevorderden en vereist fysieke conditie. Zorg ervoor dat je fit bent voor de activiteit voordat je boekt. Opmerking: De tour vertrekt altijd in de middag, omdat de route dan in de schaduw ligt. s Ochtends is er te veel zon en is het risico op hitte-uitputting groter.

We ontmoeten elkaar op het aangewezen ontmoetingspunt en vanaf daar beginnen we aan een lichte wandeling langs Pista Cláudio Coutinho, waar we de Suikerbroodberg en het natuurpark Suikerbroodberg van onderaf kunnen zien. Na ongeveer 10 minuten beginnen we aan een onverhard pad met wat rotsen en dan beginnen we aan de klim naar een rotsachtige klif waar we de andere kant van de stad, Guanabara Bay, de bergketen en de stad Niterói kunnen zien. We vervolgen de klim naar de voet van het klimgedeelte. Hier zullen we ons uitrusten met alle benodigde apparatuur om het bod uit te brengen. De gids gaat verder en één voor één gaat hij omhoog. We gaan dan verder naar de volgende stop: Pedra Filosofal, een prachtig uitkijkpunt met uitzicht op de stranden van Leme en Copa en de bergen van de stad. Van daaruit zullen we de top aanvallen en kunnen we ontspannen door kokoswater te drinken en een hapje te eten op de top. En we gaan met de kabelbaan naar Morro da Urca, waar we een klein pad nemen om terug te keren naar het startpunt.

Challenging hike with very steep rock ramps! The rock climbing section was fun. Igor was a fantastic guide and so helpful!
Hard to describe the climb. It was, in equal parts, exhilarating, frightening, and remarkable. Physically demanding but a truly incredibly experience. Take shoes that have a proper grip for rock climbing, running shoes/sneakers will not help you. Our guide, Luis, was unbelievably patient and helpful. A genuine life experience

My husband and I recently hiked Sugarloaf via the steep route/easy climb, so it involves some rock climbing. As first-time climbers, we weren’t sure what to expect, but our guide was exceptional—knowledgeable, highly trained, and always making sure we felt safe and confident. His guidance allowed us to fully enjoy the experience without worry. One of the best parts was that we had stunning views for most of the hike, making every step even more rewarding. Reaching the summit right at sunset was the perfect finale—the sky lit up in breathtaking colors, making the already incredible view even more magical. The entire experience was invigorating, and we couldn’t have asked for a better adventure. If you’re considering this hike, don’t hesitate—100% worth. Also I do have a fear of heights and was just careful not to look down for the rock climbing part. I was fine!

An amazing experience that was only made possible by my amazing guide Marius! The climb was a little scarier than I expected, but Marius kept me calm and helped guide me up. We took our time to appreciate the views and I learned about the Brazilian culture and other interesting facts along the way. Fun little challenging hike! My wife and I had such a great time experiencing the true beauty of Sugar Loaf mountain away from the crowds. What made it even better was our amazing guide Marius! We quickly felt very comfortable with him and are happy to say we finished the experience with a new friend. Would HIGHLY recommend this hike to challenge yourself, enjoy the beautiful views and get OFF the beaten path! Make sure to ask Marius about the Philosophers Stone!
