Onze eerste attractie van de dag is een bezoek aan een plooi van 'Highland Coos'. Stop om deze zachte beesten te bewonderen en foto's te maken van hun kenmerkende uiterlijk en vriendelijke aard. Met je camera vol memorabele foto's is onze volgende stop Stirling Castle. Dwaal door de grote zalen, wandel langs oude wallen en leer over legendarische figuren zoals William Wallace en Robert the Bruce. Na het rijke verleden van Stirling te hebben verkend, gaan we op weg naar Falkirk, waar moderne technische wonderen wachten. Eerst bezoekt u het Falkirk Wheel, een adembenemend staaltje techniek dat boten met een soepele rotatie tussen twee kanaalsystemen tilt. Je volgende stop is The Kelpies, twee gigantische paardenhoofdsculpturen. Deze opvallende bouwwerken zijn gebaseerd op Schotse folklore en het mijnerfgoed van de regio. Je zult in staat zijn om tussen deze kolossale sculpturen te lopen, je klein voelend in hun schaduw, en het kunstenaarschap en de techniek erachter waarderen.

De Kelpies zijn 2 iconische paardensculpturen van de Glasgowse beeldhouwer Andy Scott. Met een hoogte van 30 meter zijn dit de hoogste paardenbeelden ter wereld, geïnspireerd op het culturele erfgoed van de Schotse Kelpies (waterfeeën), evenals de trekpaarden van Clydesdale die in de lokale kolenmijnen worden gebruikt.
Het Falkirk Wheel is 's werelds enige echte roterende bootlift die het Forth & Clyde Canal verbindt met het Union Canal. Dankzij een unieke samensmelting van kunst en techniek tilt het Falkirk Wheel boten 35 meter de lucht in in slechts een paar minuten, met slechts dezelfde hoeveelheid kracht die nodig is om acht waterkokers te koken. Opmerking : we hebben geen tijd om de raderboottocht te doen op deze tour.
Met meer dan 1000 jaar geschiedenis is Stirling Castle een van de belangrijkste historische bezienswaardigheden van Schotland, en het verleden bevat enkele van de meest iconische personages van Schotland, zoals William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, Mary Queen of Scots en Bonnie Prince Charlie. Dit ongelooflijke kasteel was ooit de favoriete residentie van de Stewart koningen en koninginnen. Na een uitgebreide restauratie biedt het kasteel een unieke ervaring met personages in historische klederdracht, zoals bodyguards, hofdienaren en bedienden, die u informatie zullen vertellen over enkele van de belangrijkste kamers die u zult bezoeken, waardoor de 16e eeuw tot leven komt! Bekijk onze wereldberoemde Highland Cows! De Pollok Fold (kudde) werden bijna 200 jaar geleden uit de Schotse hooglanden gehaald om de grond in Pollok Country Park te begrazen. De kooi telt 30 fokvrouwtjes en 3 volwassen stieren, die voornamelijk van maart tot juni afkalven. Door het hele jaar buiten door te brengen vanwege hun dubbele vacht, kunnen ze altijd worden gespot in de velden van Pollok Park.

Excellent tour!! Gerry greeted us at the cruise terminal, he was very knowledgeable about the area and went out of his way to make sure we were happy. Such a great tour of Glasgow area! Shaq was a fabulous tour guide. He picked us up at the cruise pier & kept track of time to get us back in plenty of time. We really enjoyed his company & he was extremely knowledgeable of the entire area. We saw castles, ruins, highland cows, kelties, lots of Lochs, learned some history of Scotland all while laughing, joking & enjoying the ride. It’s a private tour so Shaq went everywhere we wanted to go, gave us plenty of time but we were able to stay ahead of the big cruise ship bus tours. We all really enjoyed this tour & would highly recommend it. If you are on a cruise, stopping in Greenock, book this tour!

This tour was amazing and Shaq, our guide, was fabulous!!! We got to see so many great sights, learned so much about Scotland and it's culture, AND even had time to look in several cute shops. Shaq knew all the BEST spots and budgeted our time perfectly! The vehicle was clean, well stocked with great snacks, and very comfortable! This tour is WELL WORTH your time and money!!!! Can't wait to come back to do it again!!

Phil is a fantastic guide who did an amazing job showing us around! We got the feed the highland cows and take pictures. Then we headed up to Stirling castle where he gave us plenty of time to explore. Next we got to see the Falkirk wheel, where we got to see it in action. Lastly we made our way to the Kelpie statues, which were marvelous. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see these amazing sights.

This was a day that will be a core memory for all six of us. Paul was incredibly professional and made the experience even more epic than we expected. From feeding the cows to seeing Stirling Castle and the Kelpies, we were honestly blown away. Paul shared great context along the way and kept the group engaged throughout the tour. We had a private tour for six with Paul and he helped make our day in Glasgow so enjoyable! Petting and feeding the highland cows, visiting Sterling Castle and a quick stop at the Kelpies made for an amazing day in Scotland! Paul was friendly, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating.
