Ga op avontuur door de adembenemende landschappen van Madeira, beginnend in het Ecologische Park van Funchal, omgeven door weelderig groen en gevarieerd terrein. Het pad leidt naar Poço da Neve, met een uniek uitzicht over de haven van Funchal. Vervolg over het PR3 Vereda do Burro-pad naar de majestueuze Pico do Areeiro, de op twee na hoogste bergtop van het eiland. Vanaf hier leidt het pad je naar het prachtige Miradouro do Ninho da Manta, waar je getuige zult zijn van de ruige schoonheid van Madeira. Ga vervolgens naar het uitkijkpunt Pedra Rija, een andere adembenemende stop. Pak vervolgens de uitdagende maar lonende "Stairway to Heaven" aan, waar de beklimming ontzagwekkende vergezichten belooft. Nadat je deze iconische klim hebt overwonnen, keer je terug naar Pico do Areeiro om je wandeling te voltooien. Deze route is perfect voor doorgewinterde wandelaars en natuurliefhebbers en biedt enkele van de meest spectaculaire uitzichten die Madeira te bieden heeft. Ervaar de wildernis van het eiland en laat het je ziel boeien!

Begin uw avontuur bij Pico do Arieiro, door het afwisselende terrein van het ecologische park van Funchal, en geniet onderweg van de rijke vegetatie en inheemse wilde dieren.

Ophaallocaties en -tijden
Ophalen is inbegrepen voor gasten die in de aangewezen hotels verblijven. We raden u aan om 10 minuten voor uw geplande ophaaltijd klaar te staan bij de receptie van het hotel. Onze gidsen wachten ongeveer 5 minuten op elke gast. Kijk uit naar onze busjes, die wit (kleiner) of grijs (groter) kunnen zijn. We streven ernaar om uw avontuur soepel en tijdig te laten beginnen, hoewel er externe vertragingen kunnen optreden. Als dat gebeurt, wordt u op de dag zelf op de hoogte gebracht. Een dag voor de activiteit kunnen we de ophaaltijd aanpassen voor uw gemak.

- Gezondheid en fitness: Deze tour omvat een uitdagende wandeling van 4 uur met veel hoogteverschillen, afdalingen en trappen. Het vereist een hoge mate van fitness en is niet geschikt voor personen met ernstige gezondheidsproblemen of beperkte mobiliteit.
- Regen of zonneschijn: Deze tour is onderhevig aan de onvoorspelbare weersomstandigheden die kenmerkend zijn voor grote hoogtes. We gaan door zolang het veilig is om dit te doen. Echter, vanwege snel veranderende weersomstandigheden, moeten we mogelijk annuleren of een alternatieve wandeling maken als de omstandigheden te gevaarlijk worden. Uw veiligheid is onze prioriteit.
- Annuleringsbeleid: Er worden geen restituties verleend voor annuleringen die binnen 24 uur voor de aanvangstijd van de activiteit worden gedaan.
- Ontbijt: Zorg ervoor dat u een stevig ontbijt eet voordat u aan de activiteit begint, zodat u tijdens de wandeling voldoende energie hebt.
- Het is mogelijk om eten en drinken te kopen voor de wandeling, maar dit is niet gegarandeerd. Neem uw eigen versnaperingen mee en reken er niet op dat u ze onderweg kunt kopen.
- Meertalige gids: Uw tour kan worden geleid door een gids die vloeiend is in meerdere talen. Hoewel we ons best doen om een gids te vinden die uw voorkeurstaal spreekt, is dit niet altijd gegarandeerd. In dergelijke gevallen wordt de tour in het Engels uitgevoerd.

Our guide Philip did a great job of ensuring we had a safe and enjoyable trip. The low cloud and high winds on the Pico meant that the Stairway to Heaven was not safe so we did a very pleasant walk downhill to a different rendezvous instead. The bus was modern, clean and air-conditioned; the driver did a great job of navigating the narrow bendy road in the fog. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and would recommend this company. Visitors should remember that the weather conditions in the mountains can be very different to the coast, and dress accordingly. It was cold and damp and very windy on the day we visited.

This hike is the sole reason I came to Madeira! Couldn’t have gone with a better guide! 10 stars! However, be prepared, it’s mostly stairs - killer workout though! The views are worth the climb!

We had a wonderful day with Nadia, she was very attentive, knowledgeable and considerate of everybody in the group. The walk was challenging, especially in the heat, but there were many opportunities to stop for a break and no sense of rushing so we could go at our own pace. The views are very rewarding and the hike was very memorable. Definitely one to do with a guide if you are wanting to hike up instead of driving.

First, our host, Nadia greeted us warmly. Pickup was on time. She explained everything well on the drive up. She noted all of the best viewers and stopped at perfect moments (when we were exhausted) to give us great history of the area/island. It was a very tough hike at times (for me, 45 y/o male, average fitness). Lots of steep uphill climbs. Ultimately the payoff was at the end. You will be walking in the clouds.

Not for casual walkers quite steep and good footwear needed as rocky in most places , bring protein snacks and water

Condition is advantageous :-) We were there in May, and it is advisable to bring a thick jacket, gloves, etc.
