Reis terug naar het tijdperk van het Byzantijnse rijk met deze wandeltocht van een halve dag door de Galata-heuvel en de nabijgelegen gebieden. Laat je ophalen bij je hotel in Istanbul met een voertuig met airconditioning en vertrek vervolgens naar het Galata-gebied, gelegen aan de noordkust van de majestueuze Gouden Hoorn. Loop door de serene heuvel, ooit vol met boomgaarden tijdens het Byzantijnse tijdperk, en geniet van het prachtige uitzicht op de Gouden Hoorn, een inham van water omringd door wolkenkrabbers en weelderige groene bossen. Bekijk de buitenkant van de Galata-toren, een middeleeuwse stenen toren, en luister naar verhalen van je gids over hoe de buurt van de 6e tot de 15e eeuw een Genuese kolonie werd. Verken de smalle straatjes van Istanbul om beroemde kerken en synagogen te bezoeken voordat je stopt bij de Camondo Steps, een beroemd voetpad in Banks Street dat rond 1870-1880 werd gebouwd door de familie Camondo. We booked several Viator tours during our stay in Istanbul. This one wasn’t bad by any means but we could have done without it. The tour guide was nice but we really just walked up and down the streets. It ended up being only 2 hours but it’s partially our fault because we were just exhausted and probably gave the vibe that we wanted it to be done.

Our visit to Istanbul was an unforgettable experience. We enjoyed exploring the city on foot, taking in the unique atmosphere where history and modern life come together. Walking through Istiklal Street was a highlight, with its lively energy, shops, cafés, and beautiful architecture. The views from the Galata Tower were spectacular, offering a breathtaking panorama of Istanbul and the Bosphorus. We also loved spending time in Karaköy, a vibrant area full of character, great food, and waterfront views. We had a walking tour of Istanbul with Hasan Mevdudi. The tour was absolutely amazing and wonderful. More important, Hasan was incredibly informative and a wonderful guide. Can was our guide. He was punctual and spoke excellent English. He was knowledgeable about the city in which he grew up and took us to areas which we would most likely have missed if not on the tour. He was open to our questions and at the end of the tour he asked us about our plans and offered suggestions and restaurant recommendations. I really enjoyed the time I spent with Can and learned several new things about Istanbul.
