Het fort was het grootste gebouw gebouwd door de Inca's. Het werd gebouwd op een verhoogd rotsachtig voorgebergte met uitzicht op de noordelijke moerassige grond buiten de Inca hoofdstad van Cuzco.
De tempel van Qorikancha was waarschijnlijk de belangrijkste en heilige tempel van de Inca's, niet alleen voor het aanbidden van de zonnegod "Inti", maar als de enige tempel die zich volledig toewijdde aan het aanbidden van ceremoniën; er was nooit bewijs van huishoudens op dit gebied. De meeste kronieken zijn het eens over de beschrijving van de majesteit van de Qorikancha-tempel, de muren gemaakt van calciet en andesietsteen hebben een perfecte afwerking en de overhand in de loop van de tijd, ondanks dat ze 3 aardbevingen hebben doorstaan (1650, 1749 en 1950)
Het bestaat uit een reeks aquaducten, kanalen en watervallen die door de terrasrotsen lopen. De functie van de site is onzeker: het kan hebben gediend als een militaire voorpost die de benaderingen van Cusco bewaakt, als een kuuroord voor de politieke elite van de Inca, of beide.
Hoewel de oorspronkelijke naam van dit reservaat onbekend is, besloten de Spaanse veroveraars om het woord K'enko Quechua te noemen dat "labyrint" betekent, de Socorro-heuvel genoemd en een gebied bestrijkt van iets meer dan 3.500 meter cuadradosacaso de labyrintische ondergrondse galerijen of kleine kanalen uitgehouwen op rotsen.
Het museum bevindt zich in de stad Cusco, Peru. Vroeger heette het het Archeologisch Museum. Het werkt in het koloniale huis Casa del Almirante. De plaats was het huis van Huáscar tijdens het Inca-rijk. Het werd aan het begin van de 17e eeuw gebouwd door admiraal Francisco Alderete Maldonado.

We had a wonderful experience with Richard as our private guide. We learned about the pre-Incan cultures, the Incan society and the current day Quechua (Andean) people. I can now identify a Llama from an Alpaca. We highly recommend booking this private tour.
Richard was a terrific tour guide. We did this on the last day of our trip, and had already visited Michu Picchu a few days earlier, and toured the Temple of the Sun on our own, so it was great to round out those experiences with a guided tour of the other sites and museum. Richard picked us up from our hotel promptly and took us on a private tour. He answered all of our questions and some things we didn’t know to ask. The sites are spectacular although we were surprised that none of them seem to an active archeological dig site. We were repeatedly told that the walls are another 9 feet down under the earth that we cannot see, and there appeared to be no current plan to reclaim this part of the site. Seems like a missed opportunity for Peru, but we were very happy with this experience.
Smith, our guide, was the best. His English and knowledge of his subject is excellent. We just learned and saw so much. First he took us to an Inca ruins inside a Catholic Church. Then he drove us to several ruins about half an hour out of town. We passed an alpaca wool factory with several shops nearby. I asked him to please stop. I got some beautiful things at great prices. It’s obvious he is enthusiastic as his tour. We really enjoyed it. I We highly recommend.

I would rate 6 stars if I could! Our guide, Richard, was punctual, welcoming, and most importantly for me, extremely well informed. We never felt rushed and he was always able to answer questions thoughtfully and intelligently. We truly enjoyed spending time with him and were, of course dazzled by the ruins we visited. Though I don’t know his name, I’d also like to compliment our driver. The car was comfortable and immaculate and he was extremely courteous and a very skilled driver. I highly recommend this experience too anyone visiting Cusco!

We started with airport pickup (arrived from lima not included in price but no problem) and headed straight for cusco. our guide was amazing and asked what we wanted to see. we started out with Qorikancha then on to Sacsayhuaman fortress ,Qenqo and Tombo Machay . We even stopped for a little while at a family owned shop that produces alpaca goods such as scarfs , carpets coats aso. very nice introductory to that particular art and the family was very nice and offered coca tea as well. Our guide was amazing and we had sooo much fun.

Luz was one of the best tour guides we had on this trip. She was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and so energetic with our kids--they loved her. We visited Sacsayhuaman including the slides and tunnels, which my children loved. I was amazed at the amount of ground we covered in 3 hours! It was completely worth the cost and I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cusco

I can't speak too much for the tour itself as our flight ruined the hours of operation for the tour. However, Roger was more than gracious and went past the normal start times and snuck in a few sites and a lot of useful information. We felt very lucky to have him as our guide not only for the above and beyond service, but also his demeanor and knowledge of Cusco/surrounding areas. Private tours are definitely the way to go and Roger is 110% recommended!
