We had a lot of fun touring this cemetery with Taylor! Saw lots of different types of above ground graves and learned how families interred their loved ones. Taylor did his best to keep us in the shade.
Jeff, our guide, was great! Very informative without the BS. Loved questions and was super approachable. Jeff also made recommendations for many other places to visit, eat at, or experience. We took his recommendation, ride the ferry over to Algiers and ate at Barracuda Taco Stand, a converted Gulf gas station and so glad we did!
Amazing tour! Lots of really interesting information! Great stories and quality time in the cemetery.
If you sign up for a cemetery tour you tend to know and understand what you're signing up for and, aside from the novel element of everything being above ground, this one is no different. The tour is a bit disjointed, as in some stories get rushed through or aren't given an appropriate amount of time for all of the information. It just felt kind of quick. Some of the tombs are very interesting! They do a good job with having a few misters and canopies for shade throughout but if you are attending in the dead of the afternoon maybe bring an umbrella and a water. Definitely a unique cemetery that you wouldn't experience elsewhere!
Taylor was an awesome tour guide! Super knowledgeable and made learning about the rich history so fun!
Taylor was outstanding as our guide. Seemed to really care about the experience and loved his delivery of information and some personal insights
Go early when hot outside and bring something to drink. Very professional and knowledgeable to all the graves
Taylor was an amazing tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and told a lot of stories as we walked through the cemetery. He also shared a lot of history about New Orleans and made some recommendations for where to go for some nighttime fun.
Zelda was an exceptional guide through the cemetery, bringing personal experiences and interesting information about the history of the areas, the people laid to rest there and helpful with tolerating the heat.
It was neat to see the cemetery up close and personal. The tour guy was nice and seems to have a lot of stories, but he talked entirely too fast and we couldn’t hear understand most of it. It was very hot, wish there were earlier times available, luckily there were misters and covered areas to stand under. It would have been nice to have some time to explore and walk around after the tour was done.
