Het vertrek is na het ontbijt vanuit het hotel in Sharm El Sheikh. Je wordt naar St. Catherine gebracht en bezoekt het St. Catherine klooster, het oudste klooster van het christendom. Het ligt 220 km ten noordwesten van Sharm el-Sheikh en tussen de St. Catherine's mounts en Moses Mount. Het is een orthodox Grieks klooster, binnen zijn verbazingwekkende muren rust een citadel als geen ander, het is ongelooflijk rijk aan belangrijke religieuze en historische structuren. Een van zijn schatten is het Museum van St. Catherine met iconen toegeschreven aan de schilder Angelos, een van de beroemdste kunstenaars van de 15e eeuw, of aan zijn collega's, evenals alle zes iconen van Michael Damaskinos, die worden beschouwd als een van de meest belangrijke werken van de Kretenzer School van de 16e eeuw.
Daarna gaan we naar Dahab, de Flower Power City aan de Rode Zee, voor een stads- en winkeltour. In een lokaal restaurant lunchen we en daarna rijden we je terug naar je hotel in Sharm El Sheikh.

Was the visit to the monastery worth a trip? I think so. Whether the time effort of the trip is in proportion... well...the knowledgeable tour guide had quite a quick step on it the wet so fit guests could not really keep up. The time in the monastery was appropriate. I would have liked to skip the sale before and after for a faster journey home, but am used to the numal belonging to it. The food was very sporadic and only at the very end. Tips. Pack enough snacks and drinks. Wrap warm things up, it's cold upstairs. Or you can buy some stuff there 😉 Maybe it's a special experience for religious people
This was a trip of a lifetime. I have wanted to visit St. Catherine’s for 40 years. Unfortunately, the monastery is only open for 2 1/2 hours closes at 11:30 am. The trip guide made us stop for 30 minutes at an overpriced shop selling copies of icons before we went to St. Catherine’s . By the time we got to the monastery, we had less than an hour to visit this holy location to the world’s three major religions. Then we drove back to Dahab for lunch where our guide tried to make us go into different stores before our lunch. We all just walked out and made him take us to the restaurant. I was grateful to have someone else drive us as there is a lot of security stops. It was the only opportunity that I will have to go to St. Catherine’s in my life and I am grateful that we were able to go but it was not the trip that it should have been.
