Not as good as expected . There was issues with cameras and with microphone . The female young member of staff done her best and should be praised . There needs to be some fans on the bus is the summer , chairs are very sticky.
Would have been better in the dark but was still enjoyable. The tour guide was good and knowledgeable. Do be prepared for a little walk, as we weren't and weren't really dressed for it, as did rain a bit while on bus but luckily stopped as we got off. Where we sat on bus, very back top deck, was awkward to see the TV screen but could hear everything well. If I went again would try to make sure it was dark but then not as easy to see landmarks that were talked about.
We would highly recommend the Ghost Bus. It really looks the part which sets the scene perfectly. Our young, female guide was excellent! The tour was funny throughout and informative. We booked at 9pm in Summer to make it more atmospheric but it may be better to choose an earlier time so you can see more out of the windows. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Spooktastic love this tour bus 2nd time on it great value for money this time it was Harry who did our tour and did great. Will be back again
We didn't really enjoy it. The bus was on time and easy to find. Some very feral children ran onto the bus without tickets and ran upstairs and had to be asked to get off. They shouldn't have even got past the host in the first place, in my opinion. They were aggressive and it didn't set us off on a good start. We went on a 9pm tour, thinking it would have a more spooky feel, but the tour mainly consists of having various buildings pointed out to us along the journey, but because it was dark, we couldn't see the buildings the guide was referring to and telling stories about. I expected the tour to be humorous, but it felt the jokes would be better suited to children. The seats are not comfy and we were knee to knee with strangers sat opposite us, so it felt very awkward, as there wasn't much leg room. It was not an enjoyable or fun experience and I was glad when it finished.
We had the most fabulous tour guide, who had only been on the job two weeks. Made the adults laugh and the children cry. You couldn't ask for more. She gave the tour with lots of facts and enthusiasm 10/10 experience
Spotted this bus going around town so decided to give it a go - what a treat! The whole experience was funny and atmospheric - our tour guide and driver were excellent and we giggled and jumped for the whole hour. Great value for money as we saw sights we would not have accessed purely on foot. Took the obligatory shot of The Golden Fleece and pretty sure I spotted a ghost in the window which was gone seconds later…
John Doe worked hard keeping the passengers entertained. He remembered a lot of interesting facts about York . The trouble if you sit downstairs however, is being able to see the sights that were pointed out by John .
Tried this as in york for a weekend. What a load of rubbish. Wish i could of gone hime after 10 minutes
Humour is subjective and I notice lots of reviews say the tour was very funny. I would describe what we experienced (John Doe and Bob the driver) as slapstick humour suitable for children. The children on the bus laughed a lot. However, the bus itself was cool and the marketing excellent at describing an experience you don't get. From the website I was expecting a bit of theatre and special effects. Instead there were very few special effects, lots of time-wasting and minimal history. A waste of money but we did laugh at how bad it was and we did enjoy the commiseratory G&T in the pub afterwards!
