Prison Island is een van de kleine eilanden in Zanzibar, met een rijke geschiedenis over de slavenhandel en de bouw van de gevangenis die de naam van het eiland heeft opgeleverd, maar in feite werd het later gebruikt als quarantaineziekenhuis en tegenwoordig het thuis van de reuzenschildpadden die uit de stad Stone Town werden verbannen. Geniet van een boottocht van 30 minuten met uitzicht op de skyline van Stone Town, na aankomst op Prison Island zal uw gids u de geschiedenis leren en u kennis laten maken met de reuzenschildpadden. We spent a really enjoyable day with our guide, Sultan, who told us all about the history and local culture of Stone Town and Zanzibar. The tour company were super accommodating, and were able to add extra people to the booking last minute and even arranged to pick them up from a different hotel on the other side of the island. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Zanzibar for the first time - the only thing is to make sure you bring some food with you or buy some en route because lunch isn’t included and it is a full day tour.
It was an amazing tour to get the real Zanzibar vibe. Sherif was a fantastic tour guide. He makes you feel like you discover the hot spots of Zanzibar with an old friend and not a guide. His huge knowledge about the history makes you learn a lot. You will walk a lot, so just be aware of taking the right shoes with you. The short drive from spot to spot is a nice break as well. This is worth every penny; highly recommended!
Excellent experience to explore Zanzibar island! Started with the spice farm tour, followed by a drive then boat to Prison Island, then onto Stone Town! Be prepared for a long day, bur very worth it. Our guide Sultan was fantastic - very knowledgeable and made the tour unique to us in terms of the time to spend at each location. He also had a great sense of humour which made it even more enjoyable! There is no dedicated lunch included in the tour so a suggestion to bring snacks!!
Hassan was our tour guide and he was AMAZING!!! He was timely, kind, and incredibly informative. He was also very accommodating to our frequent bathroom and shopping breaks haha. I would 100% recommend this tour and Hassan to anyone.
We had a wonderful experience visiting stonetown and surrounding areas. So much history and our guide Nayla was very helpful, knowledgable and experienced. Totally recommend doing this tour. Would also add in the Freddie Mercury museum as well.
Just great! We had deliberately chosen a guided tour to avoid the “special” tourist prices and the constant appeal. It's worked! We got a lot of interesting information about all areas of the tour and saw corners we would never have gone to alone. Some things the guide had adapted directly to our personal wishes.
Enjoyed the private tour very much , my guide Jun was very knowledgeable and he answered all my questions giving me a lot of insight into the history of Zanzibar and all the places we visited. Highly recommend!
The spice farm was the highlight of the day! My assistant Achmed from the farm put in so much effort for me that I could taste all the spices/fruits. My booked guide in German Abdul was anything but professional. His pronunciation difficult to understand. He tried very hard to take care of me. The stupidest thing was that he took his younger sister to Prison Island. Which spoke even worse German and could not tell me a coherent story. I had to read everything in the museum in English to understand the context. Stone Town was interesting, but I was already very tired by the efforts of communication. Today I would only visit the spice farm.

The guide is most knowledgeable, courteous and professional. Took me to the prime spots with ease and ensured that the experience was satisfying to me by checking in as we went along. I had a most enjoyable day including him getting urojo (a must-have street food) for me and parking in the car to allow me to eat.
