Nou, hier is een tour die je zal leren & aanraken! Uw bezoek aan Zuid-Afrika zal nooit compleet zijn zonder een voorproefje van de cultureel rijke Soweto Cultural Township. Deze populaire Soweto-tour van een halve dag (5 uur) omvat bezoeken aan de volgende erfgoedsites: • Apartheid Museum (exclusief toegangsprijzen) • Nelson Mandela House in Vilakazi Street • Hector Pieterson Memorial Museum • Orlando Twin Towers en Bungee Jumping (voor eigen rekening) • Soweto sloppenwijken / krotten Verzoeken om bepaalde sites of routes op te nemen of uit te sluiten, worden binnen redelijke grenzen geaccepteerd. Ook een eerste bezoek aan het Apartheidsmuseum zal velen ongetwijfeld in tranen brengen, want het is een ruwe emotionele reis over hoe mensen die naar Gods beeld zijn gemaakt elkaar kunnen mishandelen alsof er verschillende soorten zijn. De brutaliteit, de marteling, de meedogenloosheid gaat verder dan wat woorden kunnen beschrijven. De chauffeur hoeft het museum niet binnen te gaan, want de plaats spreekt voor zich en leidt je logisch van de ene sectie naar de andere, maar je kunt hem betalen om met je mee naar binnen te gaan als je dat wilt, anders wacht hij bij de auto tot je bent klaar. NB: Maandag, dinsdag en woensdag gesloten.
Soweto is de grootste gemeente van Zuid-Afrika en is de thuisbasis van een van 's werelds grootste leiders ooit - Nelson Mandela! Er is zoveel geschiedenis te leren hier en zeer emotioneel inderdaad. Maar in de loop van de jaren is er veel veranderd en wordt de gemeente kosmopolitischer, hoewel de sloppenwijken nog steeds in bepaalde gebieden te vinden zijn. Hier kunnen toeristen de enorme Soweto-koeltorens zien die opvalt in de skyline van Soweto. Toeristen kunnen gewoon genieten van het zien van de torens of ze kunnen praktisch zijn en hun Adrenaline laten pompen door te springen van tussen de 2 torens op 100 meter naar beneden! Er is ook bergbeklimmen, scad vrije val, uitzicht op Johannesburg stad vanaf de top van de torens, etc. Toegang tot de Soweto Tours is gratis, alleen de activiteiten worden betaald.
Je chauffeur neemt je mee naar het Hector Pieterson Museum om te begrijpen wat er gebeurde tijdens de Soweto-opstand van 1976 door de jeugd van Zuid-Afrika die de stijgende racismebrandstof van Apartheid zat was. Bestuurder hoeft niet met jou het museum in te gaan, maar je kunt wel betalen om naar binnen te gaan als je zijn bedrijf wenst, want museumpersoneel is altijd nuttig voor alle toeristen.
Hier haal je herinneringen op aan Mandela als een jonge jongen die gepassioneerd was en sterke overtuigingen had van wat goed en wat niet is. Bestuurder zal meestal niet deelnemen omdat er gidsen in het huis zijn die u door het huis zullen leiden. Je kunt ook buiten Mandela House curiosa en souvenirs kopen om mee naar huis te nemen om de herinneringen met vrienden en familie te delen.

Soweto Culturele Tour is een privérondleiding van een halve dag die maximaal 5 uur en 100 km duurt. Extra chrages zullen daarna van toepassing zijn. Kies een ophaaltijd van uw hotel of van de luchthaven op elk moment tussen 08.00 en 17.00 uur. Reistijd naar Soweto is ongeveer 45 minuten. U kunt het reisschema naar wens aanpassen. The hotel organised a trip to Soweto including a visit to Nelson Mandela's house museum. Built in 1945, the small single-storey red brick house served as the family home from 1946 to the 1990s. Now a museum it showcases bullet holes, scorch marks original paintings furnishings memorabilia and photographs celebrating Mandela's life. An English-speaking guide provided an informative tour of the exterior and interior. Archbishop Desmond Tutu's house is just over the road making this street the only one in the world where two Nobel Peace Prize winners have lived in close proximity. The surrounding area has become a tourist destination with markets performers and restaurants. We paid R60 per adult entrance fee; taxis take approximately 30-35 minutes from the NH Johannesburg Sandton hotel. Typically takes about 40 - 60 minutes for a guided tour. The small house doesn't take very long to walk around.

We had a great private rides and tours via Sandton Taxi cabs, Jo Berg. We also took their services for pick up from Sudwala and for airport transfers. Very reliable services, safe and our driver throughout was Nkululeko (KO). He was extremely helpful, reliable, knew all routes and tour places. He had knowledge of all areas and places along with history. We really enjoyed touring with Ko via Sandton taxi.

A museum to visit, imperatively, to try to understand this terrible history of apartheid, decades of struggles, already the visit begins with your ticket "white" or "non-white" each separates for a small course of explanations and an immersion begins of what was the regime of racial segregation in South Africa...and Nelson Mandela, released after 27 years spent in prison .., that horrors, a system of oppressions, domination, institutionalized by laws, policies and above all discrimination, we all emerged upset.

This online service misrepresents itself. This is not actually the tour. This is only the car that you book to get to the three locations. We would’ve been better off, ordering an Uber. Also, they did not tell us that the first two locations were closed, would not recommend.

I was a little worried that this would just be a taxi guide, but this wasn’t the case at all. I was so impressed with our guide Nkululeko (& his articulate English) and the way he shared the history made this experience incredible. This is a must do tour to take in the essence of Johannesburg and the core culture.
