Zonder ver te hoeven reizen, kunt u tijdens deze begeleide dagtour vanuit Taipei de unieke charme van de landelijke districten langs de noord- en noordoostkust van Taiwan ontdekken. Gelegen in Wanli District, New Taipei City, als een van de belangrijkste attracties in de noordelijke kust van Taiwan, Yehliu Geopark is de thuisbasis van een aantal unieke rotsformaties veroorzaakt door wind en zee, zoals de paddenstoelen rotsen, het schaakbord rots, de sporen fossielen en dat alles.
De bekendste rotsformatie is de iconische “Queen’s Head”, een paddenstoelenrots die lijkt op het profiel van de Engelse koningin Elizabeth. Elk jaar biedt de “Yehliu Night Tour” lichtshows, waterprojectie, enz., Meer dan tienduizenden bezoekers trekken massaal naar het Koninginnehoofd ’s nachts verlicht te zien. Naast het Koninginnehoofd zijn andere opmerkelijke formaties zoals de Zeekaarsen, de Feeënschoen, de Gemberrotsen, de Olifantenrots, de IJsrots, de Kusrots en het Prinsessenhoofd de moeite waard om een kijkje te nemen.
Jiufen is een heuveldorp in het Ruifang-district, New Taipei City. Het dorp floreerde in de jaren 1940 als gevolg van de goudmijnindustrie en raakte daarna jarenlang in verval en verval. Hoewel de gouden eeuw al lang voorbij is, heeft dit kleine dorp nog steeds veel verhalen te vertellen. De bekroonde film "A City of Sadness", geregisseerd door de beroemde filmregisseur Hou Hsiao-Hsien, werd daar opgenomen. De unieke historische achtergrond, de melancholische en emotionele sfeer trok wereldwijd enorm veel aandacht. Aangezien je in Jiufen bent, is het aan te raden om een kopje thee te drinken in een theehuis, waar je tegelijkertijd kunt genieten van het schilderachtige landschap en de vers gezette thee. Naast de theehuizen kun je hier ook verschillende lokale gerechten proeven en souvenirs kopen. Als je een zoetekauw bent, mis dan het traditionele Jiufen-dessert niet - Taro Ball!
Shifen Waterval ligt in het Pingxi District, New Taipei City, en is een van de populairste attracties in dit gebied, algemeen bekend als de "Kleine Niagara Falls" van Taiwan, een waterval van het watervaltype vergelijkbaar met de Niagarawatervallen van Noord-Amerika.
Er zijn verschillende uitkijkplatforms in de buurt van Shifen Waterfall, waar de bezoekers de waterval vanuit verschillende hoeken kunnen bekijken, zelfs van dichtbij kunnen bekijken. Op zonnige dagen, als je geluk hebt, kun je een prachtige regenboog vastleggen die is gecreëerd door de mist van deze 20 meter hoge waterval terwijl hij in het meer spat.
Shifen Station ligt aan de Keelung-rivier van het watervalgebied, oorspronkelijk gebouwd voor het transport van steenkool tijdens de Japanse kolonisatie. Het station ligt direct naast Shifen Old Street en staat tegenwoordig als een herinnering aan de geschiedenis van Taiwan. De straat is bezaaid met souvenirwinkels, luchtlantaarnwinkels en eetgelegenheden. Je kunt ook veel mensen zien die hun luchtlantaarns op het spoor zetten, klaar om ze in de lucht los te laten. Natuurlijk laat je de kans om deze bijzondere traditie mee te maken niet aan je voorbij gaan. 3 of 4 personen zullen een lantaarn delen, en ieder van u kan uw wensen op een kant van de lantaarn schrijven. Je gids leert je hoe je een luchtlantaarn op de juiste manier loslaat, zodat je ten volle kunt genieten van het rustige en vredige moment.
Op de terugweg naar ons verzamelpunt kunt u ervoor kiezen om afgezet te worden bij Taipei 101.

It was really fun! I definitely recommend it. Our tour guide, Chiara, was really informative and fun. She was so sweet and helpful. Our favorite part was the waterfall. Just make sure to wear sunscreen because there is some walking. The lantern part was okay. As cute and fun as it was, it was not environmentally friendly. We saw lots of the discarded lanterns up in the trees and the nature area. It’s a cute idea though.
Good trip, taking you to places that are hard to reach by public transport. Handsome Kevin was a great guide - lots of facts and jokes to keep the whole bus engaged
I booked this small group tour for my family including pre-teens. We had a great time! James was our guide. Our driver was excellent too. James was so knowledgeable, patient and organized. We learned a lot about the fascinating history of Taiwan and the sites we visited. There were restrooms at each stop and a chance to grab some great food. One of the best meals on our trip was a little noodle shop in Jiufen- lots of spots to get treats for people back home. The stops were stunning, from the otherworldly geopark to the mountains and waterfall. The kids loved the lantern stop. A consideration: think of booking on a rainy day or don't cancel for rain- we picked up some cute raincoats at the first stop and enjoyed a calmer experience. There was almost no wait at the Queen's Head and the moody sky pics without so many people were perfect, Jiufen had light crowds, the waterfall was more spectacular with the additional rainwater and there was no wait for lanterns. Highly recommend the tour!

Our tour guide Kia was so friendly and helpful. The pickup location was easy to find. Drop off was at Taipei 101 or the same spot we met at. Bus driver always kept the AC cranking because it was so hot. It’s a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes. All the locations were beautiful and I’m so glad we got to see more of Taiwan. Bring cash! Most places don’t take card here!

This was a fantastic tour, aided by cooperative weather. Mr. Su (aka "handsome kevin") did a great job narrating (but also giving people a chance to chat, rest, or enjoy the scenery), shepherding us around, and not being overbearing in marketing. The early start to the tour was well worth it as we seemed to beat (to some extent) crowds at all places. Sites were great--enjoyed all--and the amount of time allocating to each and the tour length overall was good. The lantern lighting was a special experience. Communication with the operator was a little slow at times, but a minor issue. This tour would not be good for small children or individuals with mobility issues. Tour bus could be upgraded (seats narrow and no plugs), but otherwise was comfortable and bus driver drove safely.
The lantern is the highlight. I really enjoyed the tour but I have bad knees so a tip is you must have a fitness level to climb between 6-8 flights of stairs to enjoy this tour. The bus gets you near the attractions but you generally have to do stairs or walk up a hill to get to the attractions. Why work around is to leave each attraction 10 minutes early to do the stairs or hills if you walk slowly. Otherwise, it takes you to the distant tourist attractions and you get to see a lot of Taiwan along the way.
Our guide was wonderful and knowledgeable of the site we visited. She made my wife and I felt very welcome throughout the tour. I highly recommend a tour.
