Fantastic night hike! Our guide Jesus was so knowledgeable and his love for wildlife really shone through. We saw all kinds of bugs and birds (sleeping toucans, jays, and hummingbirds) as well as 2 snakes. Highly recommended.
This was an awesome experience! We saw a porcupine, holler monkey, frogs, funnel spiders, scorpions, very hard working leaf-carrying ants, and some sleeping birds. We also saw a lot of flora! Moreover, our guide was extremely knowledgeable!!
Unfortunately our guide was super late, not to mention the reservation states 5:30 however the tour doesn't start until 6pm. Super frustrating when we arrived earlier than 5:30 to ensure we weren't late. The tour trail gets VERY BUSY and not every group maintains quiet respect for the animals and other groups so it just seems a bit chaotic and less enjoyable than others we have been on. Our tour did last 2 hours but it did feel rushed (maybe the trail the guides follow is a bit long?), we did see a couple great animals but overall there wasnt much discussion about nature during this nature tour. The path itself has lots of steps and slippery pathways so he wary - not for everyone.
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re truly sorry to hear that your tour didn’t meet your expectations. We completely understand how frustrating it must have been to arrive early and then experience a delay. Our meeting time is 5:30 p.m. to allow guests enough time to check in and get ready, while the guided walk begins around 6:00 p.m., when wildlife activity increases. However, we apologize if this was not communicated clearly and appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve. We’re also sorry that the trail felt crowded during your visit. As this is a public trail, there are times when visitor numbers are higher than we would like, and unfortunately we cannot control the behavior of other groups. We understand how this can affect the experience, especially on a nature-focused tour.
This tour was so enjoyable! Rafael found a lot of wildlife for us in the forest and helped us take amazing photos with his scope. We learned a lot from him and the time went so quickly. Highly recommend trying out this tour! We went when it was raining and still saw a lot of animals.
Raphael was great! We were with our 3 boys and he kept them engaged and entertained! Saw lots of cool insects, snakes, birds and even a scorpion!
Top experience! God knows and find everything. We had the luck of finding a snake that had just caught a mouse!
Rafael was an amazing tour guide and out group had a lot of fun. We saw a lot of cool animals.
Rafael was fantastic at finding animals and was incredibly patient with our children, adjusting the scope for their height. Highly recommend, highlight of Monteverde!
An easily accessible and affordable tour. The guides were very kind!
We decided to book this tour after people we met were raving about the experience of guided tours in Monteverde in general--and we're very glad we did. Our guide, Jesus, was amazing. He led a group of 6 through the trails, showing us funnel spiders, tarantulas, frog larvae, a viper, multiple frogs, stick bugs, moss-mimicking stick insects, multiple birds, and etc. The frogs in particular are so ridiculously tiny that there's absolutely 0% chance we could have seen them without his help--even after he pointed them out, often we could not see them with our naked eyes until he set up zoom optics. Furthermore, he fed our curiosity with so much knowledge (having studied entomology and having so much experience with Costa Rican wildlife) that we were super happy we had decided to book this. We had been a bit concerned about the rain, but given the density of the canopy and a rain poncho (and the fact that things were calmer at 8 pm), it was no big deal.
