Bamboebos langs de snelweg
• Hookipa Beach. Beschouwd als de windsurfhoofdstad van de wereld, kunt u genieten van het kijken naar windsurfers, kiteboarders en surfers die de golven van de oceanen en kustwinden uitdagen. Dit is ook de bedreigde Hawaïaanse groene zeeschildpaddenhoofdstad Maui, met 200 pond schildpadden die zich voeden langs de kustlijn en de hele dag op het strand zonnebaden. • Beschrijving Ho’okipa Beach Park is een van de top spots voor oceaan sport en recreatie in Maui. Ook wel de "Three Bears Waterfalls" genoemd, het is een van de prachtige watervallen die je vanuit een rijdende tourbus kunt nemen.
Er zijn 2 watervallen aan de Mauka-kant van het park, die vaak wordt gebruikt door de lokale bevolking om te zwemmen. Als je mee wilt doen aan het plezier, draag dan je zwempak gelaagd voordat je het hotel verlaat. Vergeet niet om kleding en een handdoek mee te nemen. Om bij de waterval te komen, kunnen waterschoentjes handig zijn.
Black Sand Beach • Wainapanapa is het beroemde Black Sand-strand van Maui. Kobaltblauwe oceaan omgeven door zwart zand en zwarte lavarotsen uit een recente stroom, slechts 10.000 jaar geleden. Maak een wandeling langs de rand van de baai en bekijk het blauwe water of zit gewoon onder een mooie schaduwboom. Deze locatie is een geweldige plek om een uurtje te ontspannen, te genieten van een van de mooiste plekjes van het eiland. Zoetwatergrotten en lavabuizen • We nemen je mee naar vulkanische grotten die je zou kunnen verkennen. En als je geluk hebt, kun je zien hoe de legende van de grotten tot leven komt. Bepaalde tijd van het jaar verschijnen rode garnalen, waardoor het water rood wordt. • Net voorbij het Keanae Arboretum langs de Hana Highway, vindt u een weg aan de linkerkant langs mijlmarkering 16 naar het dorp Keanae. Let op de grillige, zwarte lavarotsen en merk op dat er hier niet gezwommen kan worden vanwege de gevaarlijke en rotsachtige kustlijn. • • Keanae, een traditioneel Hawaiiaans dorp, staat bekend om zijn taro-velden, net zoals hun voorouders. Dit gebied trekt vissers en fotografen van over de hele wereld aan die op zoek zijn naar de beroemde North Shore-golven van Maui tegen het prachtige schiereiland Keanae.

Our Road to Hana tour was absolutely amazing! Even though it was a long day, it flew by because there was so much to see. Every stop was more beautiful than the last- the black sand beach was a definite highlight for us. Heavenly, our guide, made the trip extra special. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has such a genuine love for Maui that it made us appreciate the island even more. Her passion was contagious as she shared so much history, culture, and local insight throughout the day. This tour was worth every minute and every penny. If you’re visiting Maui, the Road to Hana is an absolute must-do, and if you’re lucky enough to have Heavenly as your guide, you’re in for an unforgettable experience!
This was our first trip to Maui and as always it was important for us to take a tour to explore and learn about the local culture. Sean delivered on all accounts. He was friendly, knowledgeable, funny, caring, and he took that winding road to Hana like a boss. My family enjoyed the experience very much and we look forward to trying Sean’s recipe when we get home. Mahalo.
This trip was amazing. We have tour guide Justin and we absolutely loved him. He was so personable and knowledgeable. He made the history fun. The trip was easy with him. I felt safe in the car with him. He was born and raised in the area of the road to Hāna so he knew so much about the area. He also ansled us if we wanted to stop ant certain places. Overall the experience was fantastic I would absolutely recommend this to anyone.
Excellent views of the waves and coastline. We saw many small waterfalls and the different vegetation of the rainforest. Our guide, Marty, was very informative and gave local history, information on plants, trees, animals and volcanoes. A very enjoyable day. I’m glad we had a tour guide to do the driving so we could enjoy the views and the best places to stop.
An amazing experience! This tour was a highlight of our trip. We saw so many beautiful waterfalls, beaches, and scenic views, sampled food from local vendors along the way, and ended the day with an incredible siting of over 60 turtles basking on the beach! Our guide, John, was excellent as well! He shared a lot of great knowledge about the history, culture, and wildlife of the area and currated our tour stops to meet everyone's needs and interests.
The tour itself was great. Many fantastic stops and we enjoyed getting to see the island on our way to Hana. This particular driver was hard to hear from back of the van and the back of van was very warm as he left the driver and passenger windows open most of the day. There was a lot of free time during stops which was nice. I just wish I could have heard more of the history and stories. I also would have liked to have a stop at Hana as we just drive through and made a quick U-Turn and left. There were many tours by this group running so this may have been isolated to our driver.
We went on the excursion today and our guide/driver was Marty. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. He was so knowledgeable, funny and took an interest in every single passenger. He made an effort to inform us the whole way through and back. We learned so much. We felt safe with him on those hairpin turns. He’s a seasoned driver for a road like the one to Hāna. We had plenty of time to enjoy the sights and sounds. He gave us pointers at every stop. We had a great time at the black sands beach and saw the lava tube and cave. We stopped at the waterfalls. Marty made sure to keep us all hydrated by constantly offering us water and snacks. The van was comfortable. Definitely book your trip with them and ask for Marty! It was worth it.
We had John as a tour guide. He went above and beyond what was expected. We really enjoyed the road to Hana excursion and would definitely do it again. If possible request John he was definitely the best tour guide we have had in a lot of years.
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Maui!! Tour guide John was exceptional!! He knew so much about the hidden gems along the road to Hana and the Hawaiian culture. He planned the trip to ensure we got to experience the best spots along the way, including best spots for banana bread, ice cream and Huli Huli chicken! At each beautiful location, he offered to take our photos and helped is get the most out of our time there. Thank you John for making our final day in Maui the most memorable!
A great way to see this part of the island without having to drive this road is much safer. Great for the views and we had a great experienced driver Kobi who made the ride fun with little bits of info and jokes. Great stops to sample tastes of the island, do t miss the coconut ice cream. The road itself is very challenging and lots of elevation changes as well as narrow switchbacks, do your homework especially if you get travel sick easily or plan to drive it yourself as you can easily aggravate the locals!
