Ontdek Barolo — vaak de “koning van de wijnen en de wijn van de koningen” genoemd — tijdens een kleine groepsreis van Milaan naar de wijngaarden van de Langhe, een UNESCO-werelderfgoedwijnlandschap. Reis in een comfortabele kleine groep met een Engels sprekende Gids. De eerste stop is Alba, de wereldhoofdstad van witte truffels en de geboorteplaats van Nutella. Geniet van 2 uur vrije tijd om door het historische centrum te wandelen en te lunchen. Vanuit Alba rijdt u verder de Barolo-wijnstreek in om een familiebedrijf te bezoeken met een spectaculair uitzicht over de heuvels van Langhe. Ga de traditionele kelder binnen, ontmoet de producenten en geniet van een begeleide proeverij van 7 wijnen, waaronder Barolo, terwijl u leert over lokale wijngaarden en wijntradities. De dag omvat ook een stop bij het kasteel Grinzane Cavour, een UNESCO-werelderfgoed omringd door wijngaarden en een van de iconische uitzichtpunten in de Langhe. (Op dinsdag, wanneer het kasteel gesloten is, wordt de halte vervangen door een panoramisch uitzichtpunt in La Morra of Barbaresco.)

Alba staat bekend om zijn historische charme, uitstekende keuken en de beroemde Witte Truffelbeurs, die in het weekend in oktober en november wordt gehouden. Verken de middeleeuwse torens en de kathedraal van San Lorenzo, de belangrijkste kathedraal van de stad. Bekijk lokale winkels voor een aantal van 's werelds beste hazelnootcrème, of geniet van een lunch in een klein, traditioneel restaurant met specialiteiten uit Piemonte, zoals verse eierpasta en kalfsvlees met tonijnsaus.
Bezoek een door een familie beheerd wijnhuis in een panoramische omgeving, omringd door wijngaarden. Ga de kelders binnen en leer direct van de wijnmakers over de productie van Barolo, een strikt gereguleerde wijn die alleen wordt gemaakt van Nebbiolo-druiven, met nauwkeurige regels voor de locatie van de wijngaard, de rijping en de classificatie. Ontdek hoe elke heuvel en wijngaard zijn eigen naam en karakter heeft, die de structuur, het aroma en het verouderingspotentieel beïnvloeden. Proef minstens zes DOC- en DOCG-rode wijnen, soms zeven, waaronder Barolo, tijdens een begeleide proeverij gericht op kwaliteit, terroir, terroirexpressie en lokale traditie.
Geniet van een bezoek aan een middeleeuws kasteel dat op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat en een panoramisch uitzicht biedt over de heuvels van Langhe en de omliggende wijngaarden. Bezoek in het kasteel de historische wijnwinkel, beschouwd als de oudste in de regio Piemonte, en leer over de nauwe band met Camillo Benso, graaf van Cavour. Cavour speelde een sleutelrol in de ontwikkeling van Barolo-wijn, promootte moderne wijnbereidingsmethoden en hielp Barolo om te vormen van een lokaal product tot een internationaal gerespecteerde wijn. Let op : op dinsdag, wanneer het kasteel gesloten is, wordt het bezoek vervangen door een stop bij een panoramisch uitzichtpunt in La Morra, bekend om enkele van de beste uitzichten op de wijngaarden in de Barolo regio.

We had the best time. Even though it was a holiday in Italy, Oleg made sure we got the full experience, even the truffle tasting! Wine tasting was first class. Oleg, our host, made sure we all got the experience we paid for. The small bus was so comfortable. Oleg had a lot of the information about the places we visited. Definitely a must do if you are in the Milan area.
My girlfriend and I had an amazing experience. The locations we visited and wine were outstanding. The tour guide Oleg was very knowledgeable, personable and friendly. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.
Our small‑group Barolo tour was outstanding, thanks to our guide Oleg and our driver Fabio. Oleg brought the region to life with his deep knowledge of Barolo, the vineyards, and the history behind each producer, while Fabio kept the ride smooth and relaxed through the beautiful hills around Corvino.
Oleg was absolutely amazing! We went to alba and he arranged a truffle and hazelnut tasting for us and provided a list of amazing restaurants to try. We went to a stunning winery and had 8 different types of wine. The views from the castle were stunning. Overall, everything went seamless and it was very engaging.
I often forget to write reviews but right now I’m on my way back to Milano from a beautiful, intimate, funny and informative tour with Stefano De Paolo as our guide from Abroads Tours. This is my first time in Italy and there truly couldn't have been a better introduction to this country. Stefano had a wealth of local knowledge and really brought us off the beaten path to get such authentic experiences with small local family-run businesses who are the heart of this region and so deserving of recognition. This Barolo wine tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy! My sister and I had such an amazing time exploring the beautiful Piedmont countryside. The castle, Alba and vineyard we visited were absolutely incredible. At the vineyard, the wine was exceptional, the staff was so generous and lovely, and the setting was stunning. We learned so much about the Barolo winemaking process as well. Stefano was so friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. We had such an incredible day exploring Alba and the beautiful piedmont wine region! This tour was so much fun. Loved that it was so small and that they focus on local businesses and not tourist areas. Stephano is so knowledgeable about history and knows so much about the trip that you get so much more out of it. He focuses on small tours and locale places which makes it unique and interesting.
