Beleef zelf de leukste reisverhalen! Sluit je aan bij een lokale expert en ontdek verborgen juweeltjes tijdens deze Lonely Planet Experience, mogelijk gemaakt door Urban Adventures. Geniet van heerlijke Griekse gerechten die je smaakpapillen zullen prikkelen tijdens deze 2,5 uur durende proeverijtour door Athene. Je reist te voet en ontdekt de 'big five' van de Griekse keuken, waaronder ouzo met dropsmaak, klassieke feta en olijven, gladde olijfolie en ringen met sesamzaadkorst van 'koulouri' (brood). Bovendien neemt je gids je mee naar een lokale delicatessenzaak, waar je de eigenaar zult ontmoeten en de verborgen geheimen van Atheense gerechten zult ontdekken.

Je ontmoet je lokale gids en begint deze Athene-tour door het Kotzia-plein te verkennen, gelegen in het hart van Athene. Het plein is omgeven door prachtige neoklassieke gebouwen, die werden gebouwd in de vroege 18e eeuw, en ook enkele oude ruïnes van oude huizen die je op weg naar de markt zult bekijken.
Je lokale gids zal je het beste van de Centrale Markt laten zien, je meenemen naar plaatsen waar weinig toeristen op uit trekken en je helpen een verscheidenheid aan heerlijke Griekse specialiteiten te ontdekken. Van de eenvoudige koulouri (een rond brood met sesamzaadjes) en delicate lokale gebakjes tot de Griekse nietjes van feta en olijven, de Centrale Markt is een feest voor de zintuigen.
We proberen ook een verkwikkende Griekse koffie (in de winter) of een koude frappe in warmere dagen, die populaire lokale dranken zijn. Het eten in Athene is een rijke mix van oud en nieuw, traditioneel en modern, en deze tour is de perfecte manier om al deze aspecten te ontdekken.
Vervolgens op deze culinaire tour van Athene, komen we langs bij een Griekse deli die traditionele producten verkoopt en een populaire winkelplaats is voor de lokale bevolking. Hier kun je een praatje maken met de winkeleigenaar en hem vragen naar al zijn producten - en natuurlijk proeven! Deze plek verkoopt het beste seizoensgebonden eten dat er is, perfect voor een picknick in de stad als je nog een keer terug wilt komen tijdens je verblijf in Athene.
Uiteindelijk ga je tijdens deze Athene-tour op weg naar het Monastiraki-plein, waar je avontuur eindigt. Je gids zal je graag andere plaatsen aanbevelen om te zien in deze oude stad en waar enkele van de beste lokale restaurants zich bevinden, als je nog meer Griekse heerlijkheden kunt proeven!

One of the best stores we’ve ever taken. Our tour guide George, (whom I highly recommend) was incredible. His knowledge about Athens the people the culture. The food was amazing. We got an insiders view of the city.

This tour is so special. We tasted many different types of food, sweets and real Greek coffee. The food was amazing and truly unique to Athens! I cannot say enough good things about Nikoleta. She is warm, kind, knowledgeable and a great story teller! She makes you feel that you’re out with a friend. Very highly recommend!

We like to do a walking food tour the first day in any new country and this food tour did not disappoint. The food was amazing and Nikoleta took us to places we would have never found on our own. I had the best beans of my life (no exaggeration). They were fantastic! Nikoleta was knowledgeable, fun, and full of wonderful recommendations. I highly recommend this food tour and request Nikoleta!!!

Nickolita meet us at a plaza in Athens and took us to many food establishments around the area. We were served excellent food to eat and they gave us large amonts of food to taste. The portions were so large we always had food left over. Nickolita spoke perfect english and has a great personality. She was the perfect tour guide. It was a great experience.
We met our tour guide, Charlotte Mich, near the main markets of Athens and she took us through the meat and fish areas as well as the antiquities area and streets with spices, oils and herbs. There was so much to see and she was really informative and engaging in all we saw. We also went to areas to eat that a tourist would not necessarily go to and had the most delicious Meze and ouzo not to mention tasting different oils and olives in specialist shops. We both really enjoyed our tour and I loved seeing how different the way of life and shopping is in Athens compared to our own. Would highly recommend this tour just please make sure that you do not eat first!!

We certainly ate and drank our way round Athens. We went to lots of places we probably would not have got to normally and really enjoyed seeing a real part of Athens life.
My husband and I were on our honeymoon and this was the last tour we did before leaving Greece. Demi was an amazing tour guide. She helped us to experience the culture and authentic tastes of Greece. We would definitely recommend this tour.
