Deze ervaring biedt een unieke kans om diepgaande inzichten te krijgen in de Costa Ricaanse cultuur en zich te verdiepen in verhalen en anekdotes rond enkele van de meest geliefde en verrukkelijke traditionele gerechten uit de regio. Te midden van de boeiende fusie van cultuur en natuurlijke landschappen op Jaco Beach, bevindt u zich in een ontspannen omgeving, waardoor u de perfecte ambiance creëert voor een plezierige middag in de stad.

We beginnen onze reis met een voorproefje van chorreadas, een traditionele Costa Ricaanse maïs "gegoten" tortilla vers geserveerd door een straatverkoper. Het is de perfecte introductie tot de smaken van de regio.
Onze volgende stop is de iconische caldosa, een unieke mix van knapperige maïschips gegarneerd met Costa Ricaanse ceviche. Dit klassieke straatgerecht is een must-try!
Geniet van de schoonheid van Jacó terwijl we langs het strand wandelen en ons vergapen aan levendige muurschilderingen en openbare kunst in de omgeving. Deze halte stelt ons in staat om te genieten van het natuurlijke en culturele landschap.
Op donderdag bezoeken we de lokale boerenmarkt, waar u verse producten, ambachtelijke goederen en de levendige sfeer van Jacó's gemeenschapsleven kunt verkennen.
Na de wandeling stoppen we bij een andere verkoper om te genieten van een chiliguaro – een vurige Costa Ricaanse shot gemaakt met lokale maneschijn, chili en Tabasco.
Ontspan in een charmant restaurant aan het strand. Hier genieten we van verfrissende drankjes en zeevruchtengerechten, bereid met de meest verse lokale vangst.
Voor degenen die geen genoeg kunnen krijgen van deze gedurfde Costa Ricaanse drank, maken we een tweede stop voor een andere draai aan de chiliguaro.
In een favoriete lokale bar drinken we een klassieke Michelada – een verfrissend drankje op basis van bier – en genieten we van een stevige chifrijo, een smaakvolle mix van chicharrones (krokant varkensvlees) en frijoles (bonen).
We eindigen op een zoete noot met een bezoek aan een geliefde dessertleverancier voor Churchill, een Costa Ricaanse ijstraktatie met lagen gecondenseerde melk, geschaafd ijs en fruittoppings.
Tijdens de tour deel ik inzichten in Jacó’s geografie, geschiedenis, cultuur en kunst, evenals persoonlijke anekdotes en verhalen over de stad. Onderweg belicht ik openbare kunst, belangrijke gebouwen, authentieke restaurants en de beste cadeauwinkels voor unieke, lokaal vervaardigde souvenirs.

Great tour to good food spots I probably wouldn’t have gone on my own. It inadvertently ended up being a private tour, and Josue was great at telling me not only more about Jack but Costa Rica in general. Despite it being just the two of us, I had a great time and learned a lot. Would recommend for solo travelers and groups alike.

We had a wonderful time on the Costa Rica food tour with Josue. He went above and beyond with showing us some of the best food spots in Jaco but also with being extremely knowledgeable about the culture, history, animals, and any questions we had about the country in general. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting town. The only regrettable part was that we did this tour on our last day and he gave so many local food recommendations that we will have to save for next trip!

Let me start off by saying my tour guide Josue was the best. He was very pleasant, funny and knowledgable. He convinced me to drink beer which I hate! He was delightful and easy to talk to. He told me about the many murals that are painted around town including the one of the direct descendant of Pastor Diaz. The tour itself is ideal especially if you're open to trying new foods. I had caldosas at Picarita's, patacones, which are DELICIOUS (can't remember the name of the place) and beer randon at Amudio's and a Winston Churchill! This is a walking tour so be advised if you have any conditions.

You can tell he knows the area really well, and I learned a lot about Jacó while trying some really good local food. I liked that it wasn’t just about the food, it was also a walking tour around downtown. He pointed out different places around town, shared local recommendations, and we even stopped in a souvenir shop, which was a nice little addition. We also ended the tour with dessert, which I wasn’t expecting and thought was a fun surprise. The whole experience felt like a great value for the price. There was plenty of food, and I left feeling like I got to experience much more of Jacó than I would have if I had explored on my own. I was traveling solo from the U.S. and I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. Josue was friendly, laid-back, professional, and made the tour feel really easy and enjoyable.
