Reis noordwaarts van Anchorage door de MatSu Valley naar de ruige hoofdstad van de wereld en maak een ritje met sledehonden! Geniet van de bezienswaardigheden terwijl u ons de rit laat doen op weg naar Willow, AK, waar u de huiskennel van een echte Iditarod-musher ervaart en getuige bent van hun enthousiaste hondenatleten. Ga voor een opwindende rit met een sledehond over land, aangedreven door een team van authentieke Alaska Huskies, en leer alles over de sport van mushing en de wereldberoemde 1000 mijl Iditarod Sled Dog Race. Je gaat voor een hond-aangedreven rit in een speciaal ontworpen 2 - persoons winkelwagen met je eigen persoonlijke musher en de kans om een aantal vriendelijke pluizige Alaska husky's te aaien! Dit 5,5 uur durende rondreisavontuur zal er een zijn die je niet snel zult vergeten. Ongeveer 1,5 uur rijden per enkele reis met 1,5 + uur bij de kennel. Karren op wielen worden gebruikt in de zomer (juni-september) en sleeën in de winter wanneer er voldoende sneeuw op de grond ligt. Rijd langs het schilderachtige Chugach-gebergte op de Glenn Highway ten noorden van Anchorage richting de MatSu-vallei. Pas op voor elanden!
Rijd door de Palmer Hay Flats en let op elanden. Geniet van de spectaculaire combinatie van het Chugach- en Talkeetna-gebergte dat uit de vlakke kustvlaktes oprijst.
Op weg naar de kennel voor de Dog Sled Ride rijden we door Wasilla, AK. Beroemd om iets anders dan je zou denken; leer meer over dit eigenzinnige stadje in de MatSu-vallei terwijl we er doorheen rijden.
Ongeveer 1 uur en 15 minuten ten noorden van Anchorage komen we aan in het kleine stadje Willow - bekend als de mushing-hoofdstad van de wereld. We gaan naar de thuiskennel van een lokale Iditarod musher!
We zullen 1,5 uur doorbrengen in de thuiskennel van Matthew Failor - Kuskokwim 300-kampioen en top 10-finisher in de wereldberoemde 1000 mijl Iditarod Sled Dog Race! Je maakt een opwindende sledehondentocht van 20-30 minuten over land in speciaal ontworpen 2-persoonskarren, aangedreven door authentieke Alaska Huskies en met je eigen persoonlijke musher! Geniet van een uitgebreide kenneltour met de honden terwijl je alles leert over mushing - de officiële staatssport van Alaska.

We had a great experience. It was a lot of fun. Alex was a wonderful tour guide and was very knowledgeable. We stopped for delicious ice cream on the way which was a great treat. The sledding was amazing. The staff at Alaskan Husky Adventures were so nice. They truly love their animals and take good care of them. Dane was our musher. He gave us a lot of information on the Iditarod. We would do this again and highly recommend it.

This was so worth doing with family. It was kind of pricey but worth every penny. The visit lasted roughly 3 hours. The atmosphere of the place was beautiful; you got to be in charge of your dog sled team of friendly, beautiful dogs. Then they gave you a tour of the facility and let you play with puppies. It was not crowded at all.
My husband and I had the best time with David of Frontier Tours. He was informative through the scenic drive to the sled dog location. A few stops were taken for photos and ice cream. We had a great view of Denali along the ride. The sled ride with the Iditarod dogs was amazing. The mushers were friendly and informative. I cannot recommend this experience enough! Truly special.

This is the best sled dog experience you can choose from. From the start, David had great communication with instructions and pick up straight from our hotel. We stopped for the best ice cream in a local small town and then headed to acres of land where all the amazing dogs are! If you’re a dog lover, this is going to be the best experience. It’s about 1.5 hour of driving and then a 1 hour dog sled ride through beautiful trees ( definitely recommend in the winter) the experience is quite private, the mushers are very kind, the dogs are the best though. This is the tour to book!

On our first day in Anchorage, we scheduled the Sled Dog Ride and Scenic Drive with AK Frontier Tours. This was a great choice. Our guide, David, is not only the owner but also a passionate local who volunteers annually for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. His deep knowledge of the area, the dogs, and Alaskan history made this far more than just a sightseeing tour. This rurned out to be a very educational afternoon in Alaskan culture. Despite the cloudy skies and chance of rain, the views were still pretty cool as the weather held up for us. Our first stop was Miller’s Market, where we tried the Fruity Pop-N-Rocks ice cream. David gave us a pretty good tip...one scoop is sufficient, two scoops are Alaskan-sized. I also couldn't resist some chocolate for the road. Next, we stopped in Willow, the official start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. It happened to be Friday, so we caught a small farmer’s market. We picked up a brisket sandwich from the Patriot BBQ food truck before heading over tk the kennel. At the kennel, we met Matt, who introduced us to the dogs and shared insights into their training, care, and personalities. This was a very educational experience as we learned more about his dogs and their roles in the Iditarod. I would say, if you love dogs, this is an absolute must-do activity as the connection between the mushers and their dogs are very inspiring.
