Sledehondenkenneltour

Beschrijving

I really enjoyed my visit to Susitna Dog Sled Kennels! This was a different type of sled dog experience, as we took a walking tour around the property and got to learn more about how they care for, raise, and work with their sled dogs. Rohn was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us a great demonstration of the sled, gear, harnesses, and even the booties used for the dogs. His son also gave the cutest demonstration of how to use a ski pole, which was such a fun and memorable part of the tour! I especially appreciated getting to see the everyday care and preparation that goes into maintaining a sled dog team. As someone who hopes to work with sled dogs more in the future, I loved being able to learn everything I can Thank you for sharing your knowledge and for the booties as a token of the experience! It was such a thoughtful touch and a wonderful reminder of a great visit.
Great Experience. Saw the sled dogs, got to interact with them and take them for a walk. Met the handler and the owner.
I valled as I could not access the location. The activity never told me the.location was off-road. No one called back. Could no do the activity and just had to pay.
Rohn was great - got to walk the property when the dogs were running around in a pack, visited the 3-month-old pups who were adorable - Rohn is very informative and was great to hear more details about raising sled dogs, the Iditarod and other racing stuff. Much fun!
We had such a great time on the sled dog kennel tour! Rohn and Winter answered question after question! We got to interact with numerous dogs including several who have run in the Iditarod! We also had time with the puppies and a complete review of all the equipment used to race in todays competitive racing world. We learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Unique personable experience. Walking with the puppies and being able to ask questions. Was a comfortable time to fit our family and the other two guest. Able to interact with the dogs freely and not restricted. Can see the care and family experience of the raising of the team. Welcoming to their daily activities keeping the pups happy and healthy.
Fun to see all of the Alaskan Huskies and learn and hear about dog sledding. Vey knowledgeable. Fun 60-90 minute tour.
Gorgeous area and spacious dog yard! We started spending time with the dogs right away, and from the get-go Winter and Rohn were very open and welcoming. Both were easy to talk to and answered all our questions with personal experience and charm. It was very evident that they put a mass amount of personal time, effort, and money into responsibly breeding/caring for the running pups, who were incredibly excited, well-fed, and adoring of the both of them. On the topic of the pups: very energetic and friendly towards smaller kids, adults, and even people who are mildly afraid of them lol. They love to bark/jump up and stay there for pets, but are all relatively light weight and gentle. That being said, most definitely WEAR FULL-COVER CLOTHES THAT YOU DONT MIND GETTING MUDDY, and especially if you are doing the trail walk, STRONG MOSQUITO SPRAY IS A MUST! Support a local and humane family-run dog kennel that has been racing the Iditarod for generations !! (Of both humans and dogs). absolutely the place to go for a superior dog meet-and-greet.
Very educational, learned a lot about the racing experience and training. Dogs were so friendly and got to play with puppies:) Do wear bug spray for the walk though as we encountered a lot of mosquitoes.
We enjoyed getting to learn more about the Iditarod and sled dog racing, and the dogs involved in these events. The owners invite you onto their extensive property and take their time to give you an authentic Alaskan experience. The dogs were very sweet, so full of energy and excited to walk with us. The time interacting with the puppies was a highlight!
