Rondleidingen (elk uur tussen 9.00 en 16.00 uur) beginnen met een multi-zintuiglijke 3D-film over de geschiedenis van de site, gevolgd door een gedetailleerde blik op het levende museum in het Grote Huis, postzegelcollectie, tentoonstellingen en het omliggende pittoreske landschap. Er is ook een cadeauwinkel en een restaurant op het terrein. Sinds de bouw van IT meer dan twee eeuwen geleden werd Pedro St. James op verschillende manieren gebruikt, als katoenplantage, gerechtsgebouw, gevangenis, regeringsvergadering en restaurant, voordat de regering van de Kaaimaneilanden het pand in 1996 kocht en het in zijn 18e-eeuwse grandeur herstelde. Vandaag de dag is IT een dynamisch stukje Kaaimaniaans erfgoed. Pedro St. James, vooral bekend als de "geboorteplaats van de democratie op de Kaaimaneilanden", was de locatie voor een vergadering op 5 december 1831, waar IT werd besloten om het eerste gekozen parlement van de eilanden te vormen. Later, op 3 mei 1835, werd de proclamatie die de slavernij in het Britse Rijk beëindigde van de site voorgelezen.

On our fourth trip to Grand Cayman, we finally toured Pedro St. James, and we are sure glad we did! Ephantus was so welcoming! The theater was super! Wilson was a fantastic tour guide! He was very knowledgeable and kind. We went on a day that wasn't too busy, and we had the theater and Wilson all to ourselves! The gift shop was FANTASTIC! I bought beautiful earrings made by a Grand Cayman artisan, along with numerous other reasonably-priced souvenirs. Every visitor curious about history should visit Pedro St. James!
I had the BEST visit to Pedro St. James with guides Marquise and Dayshaun (please excuse if I misspelled names!). I enjoyed the pre-tour history multimedia presentation and learned a lot about the island. Marquise and Dayshaun then walked me around the property and the house to connect the presentation and history to the actual building. They also made personal connections from their experiences growing up in the community and the impact of this space and building to the island. Both their knowledge of the history of the island and their personal stories made my visit very memorable and meaningful.
Great tour with Wilson who was very friendly and knowledgeable - we learnt a lot! The media presentation was unavailable so we received a small gift bag as compensation which contained a rum cake, decorative turtle and a booklet on St Pedro history.
I took my 85 yro mother as a cruise excursion and we were not disappointed. Tricia was an outstanding, top notch docent. As an 8th generation native her breadth of knowledge was rich with detail and was the highlight of the experience. Phenomenal job Tricia, you left quite an impression along with some truly fascinating facts - thanks kindly for shining your light today 3/9/26!
Easy entry to view the documentary and then tour the grounds and house. Tour guide was very informative and interesting.
Trisha was our guide and showed us the castle and surrounds. She told us so much about the history of the building and about the plants around it. We did the tour on the first day of our holiday and it gave us a great background to better understand the island. Highly recommend!
We had a tour stop here and I enjoyed the history of the location. The movie to bring you up to speed is nice. The view from the front lawn of the house is amazing. There are several steps up to the main part of the house. History comes alive here.
Very informative! There is a tour guide that talked you first through a scuba museum, then to watch a shirt film on the history of the property, followed by a guided tour of the historic home. Our guide was fantastic
Our guide, Tricia, embodied the warmth, generosity, and spirit of the Cayman Islands. She passionately and proudly shared the history of her heritage, which made us further appreciate the beauty of the Cayman people and their story. This is well worth doing the guided tour to experience this richness. P.S. Be sure to try the 1780 Rum, which can only be experienced here, at the Thatch & Barrel (on site).
