Als je het museum betreedt, is het eerste scherm dat je tegenkomt het ongelooflijke videokunstwerk 'Living Landscape'. Het stuk van 13 meter bestaat uit originele filmfragmenten en foto's die het rijke joodse leven weergeven dat in Europa bestond vóór de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Honderden artefacten, foto's, documenten, videogetuigenissen en kunstwerken zijn te zien in de 9 museumzalen. De audiogids biedt inzicht in de individuele verhalen van de slachtoffers - en de overlevenden - van de Holocaust die achter deze schermen lag. Aan het einde van het museum is de monumentale Namenhal. Als u de ronde hal binnengaat, ziet u een 10 meter hoge bovenste koepel waarop de afbeeldingen van 600 mannen, vrouwen en kinderen worden weergegeven. Terwijl je naar beneden kijkt, zie je de afbeeldingen hieronder weergegeven in een plas water die diep in de rots is gegraven. De tour eindigt met een adembenemend panoramisch uitzicht op het hedendaagse Jeruzalem, zodat je even kunt nadenken over je bezoek aan de berg der herinnering. Aanbevolen tour-tijd is van 1,5 - 4 uur.

Be prepared for some hard truths, but important ones. Everyone should know this history and share it.

Yad Vashem is a memorial to the Holocaust that claimed the lives of six million European Jews. Yas Vashem is a graphic series of displays which bring the attention of visitors back to history, which can never be forgotten. Inspecting Yad Vashem takes several hours, it's a return to Hitler's Germany.
Yad Vashem is a memorial to those Jews who perished in the Holocaust and those who resisted the Nazi regime. It also commemorates the Righteous Among the Gentiles, those non-Jews who risked their lives to save their neighbors. Yad Vashem is a humbling experience. Only the Western Wall has more visitors. Yad Vashem should not be missed. Entry is free.
This is a superb museum of Holocaust material and exhibitions. My wife and I spent 6 hours reading and viewing the material. We could have stayed for 2 full days. The video presentations were excellent. We also viewed the art museum but did not have enough time to complete it. We will definitely return.
Impressive, frightening and confronting. You'll be taken on the whole Holocaust journey. In the end too much for me.

Designed by architect Moshe Safdie The Holocaust (1933–1945) was the systematic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million European Jews by the Nazi German regime and its allies. This museum manages to make clear and precise what anti-Semitic hatred was.
Plan on spending the day. So personal. Unspeakably sad, but so necessary to see. Listening to the stories from the people who lived through them left me emotionally drained. I have seen the Holocaust memorial in Washington DC and this is much more powerful.
