Sintra wordt door UNESCO als werelderfgoed beschouwd en heeft een aantal geweldige hoogtepunten die u kunt ervaren. Na het ontdekken van wonderen zoals het Pena Nationaal Paleis en de prachtige Quinta da Regaleira, nemen we u mee op een ontspannen reis door Cabo da Roca en eindigen bij de kustpracht van Cascais. Voorwaarts hebben we de prachtige Quinta da Regaleira. Deze zoveelste UNESCO-geklasseerde site heeft eeuwenoude gebeeldhouwde gebouwen, ongelooflijke tuinen en een gotische bries die iedereen die durft binnen te komen zal betoveren. Vol geschiedenis erachter, kom je alles te weten over de grotten, geheime bronnen en kunst die zijn ontstaan uit het metselwerk, de tempeliers en het rozenkruis. ( Voorgesteld monument )
Dit prachtige pand is een jungle van exotische bomen en bloeiende struiken. De geschiedenis gaat terug tot de tijd van de Moren, maar het werd vernoemd naar een kleine 16e-eeuwse kapel gewijd aan Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van Monteserrat, uit Catalonië, Spanje. ( Voorgesteld monument )
Voordat u richting Cabo da Roca gaat, kunt u een wandeling maken door het historische centrum van Sintra. Dit is een goed moment om uit te rusten, te lunchen en wat traditionele regionale gebakjes uit te proberen. U zult genieten van een uur vrije tijd!
Het 19e-eeuwse Romantische paleis is een wonder om te ontdekken en een die je niet snel zult vergeten. Het is een van de beste plekken om foto's te maken. Het is hoog op de top van de berg geplaatst met een prachtig uitzicht dat zich kilometers uitstrekt, helemaal tot aan de oceaan. ( Voorgesteld monument )
In het hart van het dorp Sintra verrijzen een paar ongewone conische schoorstenen boven het Koninklijk Paleis. Dit paleis werd het favoriete zomerverblijf van het hof en bleef, als residentie van de Portugese koninklijke familie, bestaan tot in de jaren 1980. De geleidelijke wederopbouw van het paleis resulteerde in een fascinerende amalgaam van stijlen. ( Voorgesteld monument )
Terwijl u door het prachtige en exotische landschap wandelt, geeft uw Gids u historische en architectonische details over de regio, maar laat u de monumenten op eigen houtje verkennen. Later rijden we verder door het Nationaal Park om het Moorse kasteel en het Montserrate Paleis te zien. ( Voorgesteld monument )
We eindigen met Cabo da Roca, het meest westelijke punt van continentaal Europa, is nog een geweldige plek om wat foto's te nemen en de zeebries te voelen.
Na meer dan een eeuw als vakantie resort heeft Cascais een zekere bekendheid die meer recente resorts missen. De geschiedenis is zichtbaar in de villa's langs de kust. De beschutte zandbaai was ooit een prehistorische vissershaven.

Alberto our tour guide/driver was an amazing person. He was very friendly and knowledgeable was took us to many stunning places. Sintra is very hilly place and can be very challenging for some people but it’s a must to do while in Portugal. We absolutely loved it.
Diego was awesome. We are pretty good at navigating public and private transportation systems but it was really nice having a pickup at our Airbnb and a direct drop off at the site. In addition, at the Pena palace, Diego knew everyone working there and quickly guided us through to the most important sections and showed us some neat Easter eggs that we would never have noticed without him and made it just perfect length for our family of five. We would have had not nearly as nice of an experience if we were doing it on our own even though we are fairly comfortable doing things by ourselves. If you're on the fence between doing it yourself or having this private tour I would 100% recommend going for the tour as it will be a much more relaxing and enjoyable day, while at the same time learning a lot more important and interesting history about Portugal and the sites.

Fabio was outstanding! His blend of knowledge, history, humor, patience and his willingness to cater the tour to accommodate our preferences was unmatched. He also has an excellent eye for photography and captured many amazing photos of my family. Did I mention he was patient? 😃 He took us to some amazing sites. He was a very skilled driver and helped us bypass the crowds on several occasions. He also allowed us to explore when we wanted and made some excellent food recommendations along the way. I would highly recommend the all-day Sintra tour with Fabio! 5 stars all the way around.

I can’t say enough about how wonderful our tour guide, Felipe, was or how incredible this tour turned out to be. Not only is Felipe exceptionally knowledgeable about Portugal’s history, but he’s also an amazing photographer. He went above and beyond to make sure we captured beautiful photos at every stop that truly looked like we had the places all to ourselves. He even took us to a peaceful, secluded beach for lunch and drove us around Cascais, sharing the history and unique character of each town along the way. Every part of the day felt thoughtful, relaxed, and personalized. For my teenagers to finish the tour and say, “That was an amazing tour,” tells you everything you need to know. We would absolutely recommend Swingo and specifically Felipe to anyone visiting Portugal.

Went on a tour to Sintra and surrounding regions. We had pre booked tickets for quick entry into castles which is a big help. Our tour guide Philipe made the day flow smoothly, like a friend showing us his favourite sites, we had a great laugh. He’s extremely knowledgeable about Sintra and Portugals history. First time in Portugal and wanted to try a private tour. I believe we hit the jackpot with Diogo! He picked us up at out hotel right at 9am having confirmed the night before. We discussed before hand what we would like to see. Trying to optimize weather conditions in the Sintra Mountains, Diogo had a customized tour for us that included the Monserrate Palace and Botanical Gardens, the westernmost point of Europe in Portugal (Cabo da Roca), and the Pena Palace. It was an amazing combination of both arcitechural and environmental experiences. All of the different places were puntuated with Diogo's vast knowledge of history. There is also a bit of storyteller in him which made for a very pleasurable day.

Alexandre was our private tour guide. He picked us up from the cruise terminal and dropped us off at our stay at the end of our tour. He really took great care of me and my two kids. He was very informative and wonderful to talk to. We got to do everything on the list and he made sure we ate wonderful meals and taste some Portuguese delicacies. It was very relaxing but yet exciting day. I highly recommend this tour and ofcourse our tour guide Alexandre.
