Ga op een gastronomische reis langs het straatvoedsel van Singapore in Chinatown, een levendig gebied dat moeiteloos oude tradities en nieuwe stijlen combineert. Om 17.00 uur begint uw culinaire avontuur met een sappige vleessnack gegrild op houtskool volgens een geheim recept dat al generaties lang wordt doorgegeven. Proef dan een hartige ‘carrotcake’ of Char Keow Teow, een populair bijgerecht dat opvalt door zijn eenvoudige maar smaakvolle ingrediënten. Geniet voor het hoofdgerecht van het heerlijke gerecht van sojasauskip met rijst en pinda's uit de eerste Michelin-ster Hawker-kraam in Singapore. Sluit de excursie af met een decadente traktatie in een gerenommeerde dessertwinkel. Nadat de tour is afgerond, kunt u vanaf het MRT-station Chinatown terugkeren naar uw hotel.

Je eerste stop is een winkel die gespecialiseerd is in bakkwa, schokkerig vlees, langzaam gegrild op houtskool met hetzelfde geheime recept dat generaties geleden is overgeleverd. Proef de honingzoete, smakelijke bakkwa of koop een pakje als souvenir om mee te nemen. Wandel nog wat rond langs de verschillende kleine kraampjes die een overvloed aan tropisch fruit verkopen, waaronder de koning van fruit, Durian, evenals verse zeevruchten en dagelijkse goederen.
Ga verder naar een ventercentrum en verken de talloze eetkraampjes voordat je "carrot cake" of Char Keow Teow proeft. Warm je trek op met dit populaire bijgerecht dat de eenvoudigste ingrediënten gebruikt. Je hoofdgerecht van de dag is bij de eerste Michelin-kraam op straatniveau.
Geniet van het kenmerkende gerecht van de kraam, sojasaus, kiprijst: zacht malse gemarineerde kip met witte rijst en pinda's. Sluit de tour op een zoete toon af bij een populair toetjes winkel. Beëindig uw foodie-ervaring hier en ga terug naar uw accommodatie vanaf MRT-station Chinatown.

Jon was a great guide. The group was small, 7 people and we got to try different foods, the most enjoyable being the Hawker centre. So much food, so make sure you are hungry. I appreciated that we were provided with an earpiece so did not have to struggle with the surrounding street noise. Recommend this tour.

Alfred was prompt, patient, and fun! We tasted dried pork, popish (spring rolls - fried and steamed), sugar cane juice, chicken and rice or noodles, tart lemon drink, and shaved ice with coconut, beans and sugar cane syrup. Such a fun experience - the history and culture information was interesting and the food was exciting.

This tour gives you an insight into Chinatown with a nice feed along- the way. I was very lucky to have a very knowledgeable & informative tour guide by the name of Carol who made me feel welcome just like old friends catching up. Great little activity for evening in Singapore. Our guide took us to one of the less well known hawker centres and ordered food for us that I wouldn’t ordinarily have picked myself- he was knowledgeable and friendly. Do note that a large part of the tour is about the history of Singapore rather than food as such (title of tour maybe a little misleading!) but I enjoyed it none the less

This tour was a ton of fun! We visited a few restaurants, stores, and stalls all within a short distance of Chinatown station, ate some classic dishes and some delicious fruits too. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the culinary history of Singapore.

Alfred was a great guide providing lots of information on Singapore and the food but also having fun along the way. There were 5 on our tour which was a great number and we all enjoyed the food, info and company. Don’t eat before as plenty of food on the night.
