Silfra : Snorkelen tussen tektonische platen - Afspreken op locatie

What an absolute RAD way to kick off our Icelandic adventure! Denu -our guide- was incredible at making us feel comfortable, checking on us & taking photos. 2 degrees celsius water in the sleet and rain is no joke, but the air suits etc...help so much. I recommend this to anyone wanting to see vibrant colors in the epic Silfra rift between Eurasia and North America. A+++ and hot cocoa and cookies.

Great unique experience with helpful interesting guides. Tony was our guide and he was great, with lots of good information. We had a nice small group of 6 of us and it was perfect.

Do this! It was an incredible experience- one you won’t find anywhere else! Elsa was fabulous and so funny! She made us feel safe and confident. The views were stunning, the gear well maintained, the staff helpful and the experience? Once in a lifetime!

It’s definitely cold, but not shockingly so. Wear something form fitting under the dry suit and heavy socks and you’ll be fine.

Fantastic experience. Not as cold as you might think, and so beautiful.... be warned it can be hard to find parking. Once ready to snorkel the line to get in the water can also be long.

Experience is definitely one of a kind, but isn’t truly swimming between the actual two tectonic plate walls which are more than a km apart. There could be a wait to get into water depending on time of day and year. Our guide, Konrad, was nice and waited in line for us. He also took many photos for us so didn’t have to worry about having a phone or camera with us.

Just do it.. I’m in my late 50’s and this was a pinch yourself moment.. I’ve dreamt of doing this snorkel and it didn’t disappoint. The staff are amazing, professional and very knowledgeable, friendly and organised from start to finish..

The snorkeling part of this trip was a 5. Beautiful, clear water and amazing scenery below the surface. The prep for the dive is very long and cumbersome. I would say it was almost 2 hrs from when we arrived to when we got into the water. This involves a lot of standing around in these heavy suits, mittens, mask, etc. The whole process should be improved. A much better experience would be to streamline the process and minimize the time you are dressed and ready and waiting. If the lines are long, have people wait before getting dressed. All in all, glad we went and it was worth it.
