Een betoverende wandeling van twee uur, waarbij je de meest geliefde plaatsen van Siena ontdekt. Begin voor de Basilica San Domenico, waar de relikwieën van St. Catherine worden bewaard, en ga dan verder naar haar oude huis. Wandel door de karakteristieke straten en bereik de kathedraal. Beslis met je gids of je binnenkort naar binnen wilt om de unieke marmeren vloer en kunstwerken van Donatello, Bernini en Michelangelo te zien. Kom aan op het beroemde Piazza del Campo, het centrale plein, waar de Palio (paardenrace) twee keer per jaar plaatsvindt. Ontdek deze middeleeuwse traditie en begrijp waarom het zo belangrijk is voor de Sienese. Het stadhuis is een voorbeeld van Italiaanse architectuur en herbergt het belangrijke stadsmuseum. Bewonder ook de Joyfull Fountain en luister naar grappige anekdotes over de mysterieuze rivier genaamd "Diana". Bezoek aan het einde van de tour onze locatie in een historisch paleis, Palazzo Scotti, waar je geweldige foto's kunt maken vanuit onze exclusieve ramen met uitzicht op Piazza del Campo. De tour begint voor de basiliek van San Domenico. Vanaf hier kunt u genieten van een charmant uitzicht over de stad. In de kerk worden de relikwieën bewaard van de heilige Catharina van Siena.
De tour gaat verder naar het Heiligdom van de heilige, waar ze met haar gezin woonde. Ontdek het verhaal van deze mystieke vrouw, getrouwd met de Heer, die niet alleen Siena veranderde, maar erin slaagde onze wereld voor altijd te transformeren.
Het Tolomei-paleis is een van de oudste gebouwen en ligt aan het Tolomei-plein, dat in de middeleeuwen het belangrijkste plein van de stad was. Op dit plein zie je een zuil met een wolvin. Leer hoe en waarom Siena nauw verbonden is met Rome, met zijn zwart-witte vlag.
We stoppen bij de doopkapel om te zien waar de mensen werden gedoopt.
De rondleiding door de stad gaat verder naar de kathedraal, het grote museumcomplex met de crypte, de doopkapel en het operamuseum. Beslis met je gids of je binnenkort de kathedraal binnen wilt gaan om de unieke vloer en de kunstwerken van Donatello, Bernini en Michelangelo te zien.
Als u door de karakteristieke straatjes loopt, komt u aan op het beroemde Piazza del Campo, het belangrijkste plein van Siena, waar twee keer per jaar de bekende Palio plaatsvindt. Hier bevindt zich het stadhuis, waarin het belangrijkste stadsmuseum is gevestigd. De tour eindigt op onze charmante locatie in een historisch paleis, Palazzo Scotti, waar u kunt ontspannen en foto's kunt maken vanuit de mooiste exclusieve ramen met uitzicht op Piazza del Campo!

Ludovica was absolutely wonderful! She provided an engaging tour filled with Siena’s history and culture. She was so kind and knowledgeable. We would absolutely tour with her again.
Benny was a great tour guide in explaining Siena and its history; Catherine, its patron saint; its contrade and Palio di Siena. Even though the Siena Cathedral was not a part of our tour, I had contacted the tour company in advance about getting skip-the-line tickets to the cathedral. Benny accommodated us that day by securing the skip-the-line tickets and taking us on a brief tour inside. It would not have been the same if we had tried to do it on our own - we wouldn't have gained the same knowledge, so we really appreciated her doing so (even though it meant forgoing some of the other items on the tour). The cathedral was worth it - amazingly beautiful inside. In addition, the exclusive window view of Piazza del Campo was also worth it. To actually gain entrance to one of Siena's buildings, go to the top and see the piazza from that viewpoint with a cool, refreshing drink and small snack was a fantastic way to end the tour. Plus, our family of six were the only ones on the tour, which made for a memorable and feeling like VIPs for the day.

We really enjoyed our stay in Siena. Proximity to Campo off from the famous and ancient Via Città was two minutes. The apartment has two large bedrooms, a large living area with nice furniture and a fully equipped kitchen. Just one bathroom, but that was spacious. Friendly owner.
I never thought the view from a window could be so spectacular! I was almost moved! Siena is beautiful and I couldn't ask for more, really. A wonderful experience in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, of truly poignant beauty.

Our visit to Siena was very exciting thanks to Ludovica. She took us from St. Francis’ Basilica to the Cathedral through the various districts of the Palio. We were in Siena for the first time and enjoyed the tour very much. Especially the tour of the cathedral was highly informative and interesting. Especially the detailed description of the history and significance of the neighborhoods with their coats of arms and customs made the tour so special. That the explanations for the traditional horse race were also not missing was then self-evident.
