De migratiegeschiedenis van Shanghai heeft het tot de grootste en meest diverse stad van China gemaakt. Oude lokale bewoners noemen deze plek hun thuis omdat het een slaperig vissersdorpje was, maar de met wolkenkrabbers bezaaide zakenwijken hebben veel buitenstaanders aangetrokken die ervoor zorgen dat Shanghai voorop blijft lopen in de mondiale trends. Wat betekent het allemaal? Het kan moeilijk zijn om het goede van het geweldige te onderscheiden in een stad met meer dan 8000 coffeeshops en een overvloed aan eetgelegenheden die smaken uit alle hoeken van China en daarbuiten aanbieden. Maar wees niet bang, want we hebben tientallen jaren door de stad gegeten (en gedronken), en we hebben de beste voor je op een rij gezet - allemaal weggestopt in de charmante straten van het oude Shanghai.

Max gave us a true local experience. He was very enthusiastic and took us all unique places which is difficult to know as a tourist. He is a good story teller too. I really enjoyed the food and dog cafe was the best. Max seemed very nice and a humble person. I wish him well

We had such a fun time with our fabulous guide Weijia. She was super informative, really lovely and took us to some fantastic spots that we would never have visited. There was plenty of stops (and plenty of food - do not eat the day before your tour!) We tried the best local breakfast food, and some awesome (and different!) coffees, as well as learning a lot about Shanghai and local foods of all sorts. I wish I had of booked the French Concession tour as well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We really enjoyed the tour, we leaned so much about breakfast and food culture in Shanghai.
