Het is het grootste zoetwatermeer van Armenië en een van de grootste hooggelegen meren ter wereld.
Het klooster bestaat uit twee kerken, Surp Arakelots (Heilige Apostelen) en Surp Astvatsatsin (Heilige Moeder Gods), gebouwd met donkere vulkanische steen. De kerk ligt op een heuvel en biedt een panoramisch uitzicht op het Sevanmeer en de omliggende bergen.
De wijk beschikt over houten balkons, stenen huizen, rode pannendaken en geplaveide straten, die het rijke erfgoed van de stad weerspiegelen
Genesteld in de bossen van Dilijan, is het klooster omgeven door glooiende groene heuvels, waardoor het een rustig toevluchtsoord is. Gebouwd tussen de 10e en 13e eeuw, is het een belangrijk religieus en cultureel centrum.

Arsen was my tour guide and he was fantastic - great communication and very good knowledge. Was able to help me out with everything and gave very good recommendations. Would definitely recommend him and Tatev tours.
The tour was very convenient to schedule and the itinerary was flexible. The guide was friendly and gave us glimpse of the history of the places we went to and we stopped in between for photos in the beautiful mountain roads. The monastery in Sevan lake had 200 stairs but we have the flexibility to go up or not. Even below the monastery there are souvenir shops, fruit shop, bakeries and restaurant so you can opt to stay down and visit these stores. Overall it was lovely experience the road trip to all the places itself is really good.
