Kom genieten van de prachtige natuur van Sevan en Dilijan. Terwijl u rondloopt in Dilijan, bevindt u zich in een unieke wijk met interessante huizen en houten balkons. Je komt werken tegen van timmerlieden, bakkers, pottenbakkers en juweliers. Nabootsend de natuurlijke omstandigheden, wordt de stad soms genoemd "Armeens Zwitserland". We bezoeken ook de Ijevan Wine Brandy-fabriek, waar bezoekers de productiefaciliteiten kunnen bezoeken, meer kunnen leren over het wijnmaakproces en kunnen genieten van begeleide proeverijen die de authentieke smaken en aroma's van Armenië laten zien.

Mariam, de dochter van koning Ashot I, beloofde 30 kerken te bouwen ter ere van haar overleden echtgenoot. Ze hield haar belofte haar hele leven. Een daarvan, Sevanavank, werd gebouwd in 874. Sevanavank werd gesticht in de 4e eeuw en beleefde zijn ontwikkeling in de 9e eeuw. Naast de twee staande kerken verdient de unieke khachkar uit de 17e eeuw, met zijn vele Bijbelse taferelen, speciale aandacht. De naam van de hoofdstad, Jerevan, werd voor het eerst vastgelegd op de koepel van Sevanavank.
De eerste plaats die we bezoeken is het Sevanmeer, de schoonheid van Armenië. Met 1900 meter boven zeeniveau is Sevan het op een na hoogste meer ter wereld met een zoetwatervoorziening. Sevan, van vulkanische oorsprong, is omgeven door bergketens verdeeld in twee delen en een groot schiereiland. Lake Sevan geniet een grote populariteit onder toeristen voor zowel actieve als passieve recreatie. Met een maximale diepte van 83 meter is Sevan het enige van de drie historische Armeense meren gelegen op het grondgebied van de Republiek Armenië.
Hoewel het in Armenië gebruikelijk is om voornamelijk tufsteen of basaltstenen te gebruiken voor de bouw, werden twee soorten stenen gebruikt voor het Haghartsinklooster: travertijn en basalt. Gebouwd van witte steen, heeft dit klooster sinds de 10e eeuw een eigen plaats in de Armeense cultuur en onderwijs. Het klooster was gebouwd voor ongeveer drie eeuwen, in de prachtige vallei van de Tavush bossen, in het hart van het bos. Hier bevindt zich ook de refter van het klooster, dat als een architectonisch meesterwerk wordt beschouwd. Naast de eigenlijke bouwwerken staat hier ook een koninklijk mausoleum. Trouwens, hier in de buurt wordt zeer smakelijke gata verkocht.
Een van de beroemdste spirituele en educatieve centra van middeleeuws Armenië is Goshavank, dat zijn naam kreeg van de multi-getalenteerde geestelijke en wetenschapper Mkhitar Gosh. De verzameling wetten die door hem werd gecreëerd, wordt beschouwd als uitzonderlijk voor zijn tijd en werd tot op de dag van vandaag gebruikt in vele wetgevingen van de wereld. Het kloostercomplex bestaande uit vijf kerken, drie kapellen, een vestibule en een refter, zal geen nieuwsgierige toerist onverschillig laten. Het klooster ligt in het gelijknamige Gosh dorp. De geborduurde khachkar uit de 13e eeuw, van meester Poghos, verdient speciale aandacht.
Tijdens de rondleiding naar Ijevan Wine and Brandy Factory verken je de productiehallen waar heerlijke wijnen en brandewijnen worden gemaakt van lokale druivensoorten. Leer meer over het fascinerende proces — van druivenselectie en gisting tot rijping en botteling. Geniet na de tour van een degustatie (proeverij) van verschillende kenmerkende wijnen en brandewijnen, gecombineerd met lichte lokale snacks. U zult de diepe aroma's, rijke smaken en gladde texturen ervaren die Ijevan een geliefde naam hebben gemaakt in de Armeense wijncultuur.
Bewonder vanuit het voertuig de sfeer van deze historische wijk, waar lokale ambachtslieden, kunstgalerijen en gezellige cafés de geest van het oude Armenië nabootsen. Het is een schilderachtige herinnering aan Dilijans verleden als favoriete toevluchtsoord voor kunstenaars en dichters.

Awesome full-day tour, car (minivan) in perfect conditions, WiFi onboard (!), on time at each point of stop/restart, lunch in an offline venue (Restart Boutique Hotel, quiet/peaceful/great food/private), good driver, gorgeous Armenian’s landscapes and historical masterpieces. On top of all that, however, one of the best guide in the planet, who managed to interact, involve, teach, share, emphasize her knowledge and professionalism. Very scenic, cool weather. Good mix of monastry and nature. I did in the midst of hot july month and this was a good escape from the burning sun. It is around 20 degrees most of the time, need a light jacket when the wind blow.
It was a wonderful day trip. Sambad knows a lot and lead an interesting tour. We learned a lot about Armenia.

A long but great day! Our guide Ana was excellent, and so was the driver. I thought that the time allocated to each of the monasteries was perfect: enough to explore everything at a reasonable pace, but not too long either (in our group everyone more or less naturally finished exploring around the meeting time at each location).
