STAY AWAY!!! This park is so horrible. It is the dead of summer on a beautiful hot day and only 5 slides are open...neither of the top 2 thrilling/best ones are open. Fun kids area is also not fully operating with all water features. Complete waste of money! Park is super dirty and garbage is everywhere. Lounge area has womens fake finger nails laying all over the place. This needs to be renamed Ghetto park, even the staff looks like they hate their jobs. To order one burger and fries took forever. Order was placed at 12:22pm and was not ready until 1pm and orders were not being called out in order. Save your money and stay away! Wish I could get my money back for this horrendous experience.
I took my grandkids there yesterday and it was so awful and disappointing. I've been taking my offspring to this water park since 1997 and continued to do so through all of the changing ownership. It has always been a total blast and so enjoyable. Yesterday was so bad, I feel very ripped off. First, the prices have skyrocketed for everything, though I was expecting that with the state of the ecomony and I wouldn't have minded if the park was still good. It was so gross, so dirty, so poorly run. I had to get out of the lazy river because it was so disgusting. There was trash and unidentifiable gross objects floating all over, getting stuck to you and the tubes. There was so much dirt and leaves, the bottom was completely covered in some areas. The three best slides were completely closed. The slides that were open had ONE slide out of the 4-6 open. Half of the "lifeguards" looked like they were hungover or asleep. I am sad to say I will never go back. This place was such a good memory for my kids and grandkids growing up, I hate that this has happened to it.
It’s a SCAM!! More than half of the attractions were closed! Only a few water slides were working, the kids waterpark was closed us well as them wave pool. The funeral waterslide also closed. I felt robed. Staff was rude and unhelpful, and there was no one in management to complain to. I used to come to this park when it was under another management but now it’s a disaster.
The experience was horrible when I made it to the park they informed me that my tickets were not valid. I reached out to your customer service. They were not able to help me either. He tried to get in touch with someone it assisted me place and they also couldn’t help me. They could not connect with each other while I’m standing there with my family looking crazy. I would never do this again with this company I called back and ask for a refund because I had to purchase my tickets from the counter, but it was a very embarrassing moment.
We went to do the water park since we are pass holders to SeaWorld and gives us access to sesame place also. Overall both kids had fun. Only one water ride was closed today. Food seems to take a while and the bathrooms could have been better but it was still a good day
Poor Experience. Not worth it. They are not child friendly. Bathrooms looked like they are from a murder scene. The baby changing area was the most disgusting changing pad I have ever seen. They wouldn’t allow my baby’s glass baby bottles when this is the only way she eats. One worker made my 2.5 year old prove she could walk when she walked through the entire line to go on the merry go round. Their employees are not in touch with children at all. Their management is not in touch with children either.
All of the aquatic attractions were closed, but SeaWorld still charged the full price. Their website did not clearly advise us about these closures before we purchased the tickets. First, I bought the SeaWorld and Sesame Place package. When we arrived, we were told that the kids did not have admission tickets included — only meal plans. Because of this, I had to pay an additional $100 USD. The park experience was very disappointing. Since the main aquatic attractions were closed and the ticket situation was not explained properly, we left after only 30 minutes. I believe this was unfair and I would like a refund or compensation for this experience.
I purchased a season pass in July during their summer sale with the intention of visiting during Christmastime (it worked out so that a season pass was more affordable/valuable than individual tickets). My wife and I were so excited to take our two-year-old in December. A few months go by and I find out from a coworker that their friends booked a trip through a travel agent only to arrive and find the park closed. I checked the website, and all of a sudden, the park is now SEASONAL and CLOSED UNTIL MAY! I searched my email for any indication that the park was switching to seasonal hours, and ALL I could find was a vaguely worded email on September 24th that because of "operational adjustments," passholders could now use their passes at SeaWorld. I emailed their customer service WEEKS AGO to try to get a refund for my season pass, which I NEVER USED, and never received a reply. Finally, I called their customer service only to be told that they would not issue a refund and that we should be happy because now we can go to SeaWorld instead. Has it occured to NOBODY that SeaWorld isn't as toddler friendly as Sesame Place?????????? I was able to talk to a manager, and I explained how far away I live, how I never once used my pass, and I even asked if they could issue me a 2026 pass instead, and they just kept saying that now we can go to SeaWorld instead. THAT IS NOT THE SAME THING! THAT IS NOT WHAT I PAID FOR!!! We were so, so, so excited to visit the park and we were prepared to pay lots of money to skip lines, eat food, and do character meet-and-greets, but they have spat in our faces as customers! Not only will we not be visiting Sesame Place San Diego in the future, but we will be actively discouraging others from visiting until they can make things right. I have never witnessed such a blatant lack of communication and respect for customers from a theme park or any other business for that matter. People plan trips months in advance, and it is wrong to bait-and-switch them like this!
We looked over to the stairs because we saw people walking down and we thought the ride closed again. Our children also came down and we asked what happened. They said it was a total mess in the line at the top of the stairs. There was not organization and the staff was yelling at people in line and berating them. Our kids, who are 11&12 said they didn’t have to and didn’t want to deal with it and they were so disappointed. We then tried one last time to go on Cookies Monster’s Cookie mixer and our kids waiting an hour and a half and didn’t even make it half way though the line. There was a fast pass line getting on faster, which I understand. (We are Magic Key Holders, and Knott’s pass holders so we are use to utilizing the these extra expense advantages). The bad part of this line was the numerous people cutting. One parent would wait in line and then 4-6 kids would come and join them, like a half hour after the parent waited. It happened numerous time and the line kept being pushed back further and further. After an hour and a half our kids gave up. We left the park. Will we go to Sesame Place again, I think not. It wasn’t worth the disappointment and the frustration. I wish we could at least get a partial refund as we went for the water park and didn’t even get to ride the slides. (Bert and Ernie’s and Snuffy’s water slides is 10 slides down that could help offset the congestion at Cookie Monsters and the lazy river). Driving from LA, this day was such a waste of time and money.
Sesame Place has a lot of positive aspects. If you have a little kid into Sesame, this place can feel quite magical. This was our second time going. We went on Memorial Day weekend and the lines were extremely short for the rides! We love that the park isn’t massive like Legoland and Disneyland so you can actually get through it in a day. We got on every ride within less than 10 minutes. The kids’ splash pad was very cute and fun. The wave pool was super fun but the water was a little cold. We attended both the welcome to sesame show and parade and both are super high quality. There is only one true minus and that is the food. It is terribly unhealthy and does not embody what sesame teaches about eating healthy and diverse foods. You basically have three options: pizza, burgers, or fried chicken. This is such a missed opportunity for this park! They could really set themselves apart by having fresh fruits and vegetables and a diverse array of foods. I’m picturing Cookie Monster and Gonger doing their whole monster foody thing. Also on the business side, the park should do a better job of advertising that it is a true big kid water park — they should just rebrand as Sesame Place and Waterworld to attract big kids, and maybe even divide it into two sections. On balance, we love this place and recommend going—especially if you have Littles who enjoy the characters.
