Sarnath is een prachtige boeddhistische plek en wordt beschouwd als een van de meest heilige van de vier verschillende plaatsen die verband houden met het leven van Boeddha. Tegenwoordig is deze plaats bezaaid met verschillende boeddhistische tempels, een museum en archeologische overblijfselen. Je maakt kennis met de filosofie van het boeddhisme, verhalen over eerdere geboorten van Boeddha (de Jataka-verhalen) en zoveel andere dingen die met deze plek te maken hebben.

We bezoeken de Mool Gandh Kuti Vihara-tempel, die werd gebouwd door 'Mahabodhi Society' in Sri Lanka. Deze tempel heeft prachtige muurschilderingen geschilderd door een Japanse kunstenaar. Deze tempel herbergt ook de relikwieën van Boeddha, die in november gedurende 3 dagen publiekelijk worden tentoongesteld.
We bezoeken dit archeologische park met overblijfselen van oude boeddhistische kloosters en vele stoepa's.
We bezoeken het museum ter plaatse dat het nationale embleem van India herbergt, een van de mooiste afbeeldingen van Boeddha en een paar andere zeer belangrijke en belangrijke sculpturen.
Deze plaats heeft de overblijfselen van de Ashokan-pilaar die ook de inscriptie in Pali-taal en Brahmi-schrift bevat. Deze pilaar had een leeuwenhoofdstad met vier leeuwen die rug aan rug stonden, die na de onafhankelijkheid werd aangenomen als het nationale embleem van India.

If you're visiting Varanasi, having a good guide makes all the difference, and Karan is excellent. Our day was really well structured, starting with a boat ride on the Ganges and continuing with a walk through all the ghats and the old city. We managed to cover a lot in one day without feeling rushed. He knows the city inside out and took us to local places and activities that we honestly would never have found on our own. His knowledge of history and religion is impressive, he explained everything clearly and was happy to answer every question we had. But what really stood out is that beyond being knowledgeable and professional, he was genuinely warm and friendly. By the end of the day it felt less like a tour and more like exploring the city with a friend. Highly recommend!

Karan is incredibly smart and charismatic. Highly recommended! I took a tour with Karan to Sarnath. It was very good experience. This tour was really worthwhile, Karan organised everything for us from buying our museum tickets to grabbing us a delicious coconut drink/snack for the journey home. He was very well-informed and answered every question we had. We came away with a much better understanding of Buddhism in general, thanks to his in-depth explanations. Karan was also very considerate when we asked to postpone the original booking after we had a difficult night’s sleep. Would highly recommend!
