Onze eerste bestemming voor vandaag is Budva in Montenegro. Voordat we daar aankomen, maken we een stop in de buurt van Sveti Stefan, van oudsher een vissersdorpje op een klein eiland voor de kust. Tegenwoordig is het echter niet meer mogelijk om het eiland te bezoeken, omdat het een exclusief woonresort is geworden. Zelfs als hij aan de kust staat, is Sveti Stefan een lust voor het oog - een foto waard.
We rijden richting Budva, een populaire toeristische bestemming, beroemd om zijn stranden, prachtige natuur en oude karakteristieke gebouwen. De stad is gescheiden tussen een oud en nieuw deel. Aan de ene kant zijn er in New Budva veel moderne gebouwen, kantoren, winkelcentra, restaurants en bars.
Oud Budva, daar is het historische centrum en vele bezienswaardigheden om te bezoeken, zoals de St. Ivan-kerk, de kleine kerk van St. Mary en de middeleeuwse pracht van de oude stad, die we tijdens deze tour zullen bezoeken.
Onze tweede bestemming voor vandaag is Kotor, UNESCO werelderfgoed. De stad is een doolhof van smalle, geplaveide straatjes die kriskras door de oude stad lopen. De bedoeling was om indringers die de stad kwamen plunderen in verwarring te brengen, terwijl het tegenwoordig de stad kenmerkt. Veel van de oude gebouwen en kerken hebben kleine plaquettes met hun bouwdata en oorspronkelijk gebruik.
We bezoeken de Sint-Lucaskerk die voor de lokale bevolking van grote betekenis is omdat het voor hen eenheid vertegenwoordigt.

The trip was advertised as an 8 to 10 hour tour. First, the actual time was 15 hours. Second, it wasn't a "tour". We just had a "driver"..
Montenegro's coastline is stunning and the old towns in both stops are incredible. Our driver and guide, Klodian was perfect for this very long day over bumpy roads. He tended to our needs and wants on this trip. He was very informative but not overwhelming us with too much information. He is an excellent driver and we felt safe with him. We enjoyed his company. Understand that this is a very long, and bumpy road trip as they are working on roadways. But if you want a chance to visit another country without the drive, then this is the way to go.
Klondike is an excellent guide who did not overload us with information. All of our needs were met and he checked our comfort often. He catered the trip to our wishes and is an extremely safe driver! Montenegro's coastline is beautiful. The old cities in both stops are unbeatable. Be prepared for a long ride, road construction as they build a new road. But enjoy Klodi's company for the long day.
Such a fabulous day trip from Tirana. Budva and Kotor are stunning. Endri was an excellent driver and guide, and a genuinely lovely person to spend time with. It was really interesting to chat with Endri about life in Albania and his own experiences. Endri also went out of his way to accommodate my requests. Based on my experience, I’d thoroughly recommend Endri as well as Choose Balkans as a company - they responded quickly and arrived promptly. A lovely lady from Choose Balkans came with Endri to welcome me which was a nice extra detail; I’m not sure if that was just because I was a solo female traveller but it was a very kind gesture.
We recently took a private day trip from Albania to Montenegro , and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. My boyfriend and I loved every moment of it. A huge part of what made the trip so special was our driver and tour guide, Endri. He was incredibly helpful, informative, and professional, while also being friendly and great fun to spend the day with. He shared so much interesting knowledge about both Albania and Montenegro, which really added depth to the experience. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him, he was very accommodating and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves at all times. We would highly recommend this tour company, and especially Endri as a guide. He truly made the day unforgettable!
