Uw tour door eigenzinnig, druppelsgewijs prachtig Sedona begint bij het bezoekerscentrum / kamer van koophandel van de stad. Vanaf hier rijdt u naar het zuiden, langs de grootste attracties onderweg, van rode rotswandelingen tot overvloedige winkels en galeries. Je leert ook een heleboel over Sedona's lange, ongewone geschiedenis terwijl je rijdt. Het Tlaquepaque Arts Shopping Village is niet voor niets een van de topattracties van Sedona. Dit levendige plein staat vol met lokale kunstenaars en ambachtslieden die allerlei unieke vondsten verkopen. The Village is ook de thuisbasis van een aantal toprestaurants en cafés om bij te tanken voor uw reis.
Cathedral Rock Trail is een van de meest populaire wandelingen in Sedona, en het is gemakkelijk te begrijpen waarom. Cathedral Rock domineert de horizon en is zonder twijfel de meest iconische formatie in Sedona. Dit steile pad van 1,2 mijl leidt rechtstreeks naar die formatie. Dit parcours van 3 mijl deelt zijn naam met een beroemde film gefilmd in Sedona. Na je bezoek hoor je alles over de oprichting van de stad en hoe het ging van een onbekende, afgelegen buitenpost naar 'Little Hollywood', een hotspot voor westerns op het witte doek.
Sedona veranderde voor altijd in 1923, toen filmmaker Zane Gray arriveerde met een filmploeg en een droom. Hier maakte Zane de stomme film Call of the Canyon, een western over een soldaat die terugkeert uit de oorlog. Hij wilde creatieve vrijheid die hij in LA niet kon krijgen, en was gefascineerd door het landschap van Sedona.
Een attractie die je gezien moet hebben. Deze adembenemende kapel doemt dramatisch op boven het rotsachtige landschap en biedt ongelooflijke, panoramische uitzichten van binnenuit. Het is ontworpen om hetzelfde gevoel van ontzag op te wekken als het Empire State Building, en het levert absoluut wat op!
Op 4 mijl heen en terug is Marg's Draw Trail een fantastische introductie op het middenniveau van het rode rotslandschap van Sedona. In het voorjaar wordt dit pad ook omringd door bloeiende cactusbloemen!
Deze plek biedt een fantastisch uitzicht op Courthouse Butte, een van de grootste en coolste rotsformaties van Sedona. Voor een nadere blik vindt u hier ook een parcours van 4 mijl dat helemaal rond de butte loopt. Deze plek biedt ook toegang tot de Bell Rock Vortex, een van Sedona's energierijke locaties die geliefd zijn bij meer spirituele bezoekers.
Deze gemeenschap zonder rechtspersoonlijkheid staat bij de lokale bevolking bekend als 'The Village' en is een andere geweldige plek om winkels, restaurants en meer te vinden. Het heeft zelfs drie enorme golfbanen voor degenen die graag de links raken! Je hoofdtour eindigt hier, maar er is nog veel meer te doen als je ervoor kiest om ook aan de West Sedona-bonustour te beginnen.
Lover's Knoll verdient zeker zijn naam. Talloze gelukkige stellen trouwen hier, met een weids uitzicht op het rode rotslandschap van Sedona daarachter.
Hier vindt u prachtige wandelpaden, picknickplaatsen en meer dan een paar mooie vergezichten.
Crescent Moon Picnic Site biedt een spectaculair uitzicht op Cathedral Rock en dit is een van de meest gefotografeerde uitzichten in Sedona! Afhankelijk van het seizoen is het ook een geweldige plek om te zwemmen.

When we used the app in Zion it was great! We tried it in Sedona, it did not follow our location , and did a bunch of repeats.

Not as intuitive as I’d hoped. We tried one of these self-driving tours in Kauai and were somewhat satisfied so we tried this one. Narration was good but it was harder to navigate.

We selected the audio tour for a trip through Red Rocks state park in AZ. The park was basically about walking and hiking trails. Thus the audio was useless.
Nadine, it sounds like you only took the Red Rock bonus tour and not the main Sedona tour. The bonus is focused more on the walks and trails available in that part of the park. The narration was informative. the scenery was beautiful, the traffic was terrible. Plan on taking 20-30 minutes to cross town or to get to various parking lots. We did all 3 tours on a Tuesday in late March,

This simply didn’t work out for us. Sedona crowds required flexibility and necessitated route changes. We just couldn’t use it. Also, the tour app and having to pre-download tour narratives takes lots of phone space.
Dara, thanks for sharing your experience. I’m sorry the crowds in Sedona made it tough to use the tour; busy days there really do require extra flexibility. Just to note, there are two versions of the audio tour: one starts at the north entrance and one at the south. Downloading only the route you’re using helps keep phone storage minimal, and the Red Rock State Park tour is entirely optional. One advantage of a self-guided tour is that you can enjoy it anytime, and I always recommend starting early to avoid crowds. There is not enough information on the landmarks. There is some information on a few hiking trails but not anything on the mountains.
