The tour itself was excellent, and our tour guide was exceptional—knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate. Their storytelling and enthusiasm kept us interested throughout the experience and were the main reason we stayed until the end. Unfortunately, the condition of the bus significantly impacted our overall experience. The air conditioning was not adequate, and we were crammed into a bus with very little air circulation. In 90+ degree weather, the outside temperature actually felt more comfortable than being inside the bus. The heat became so unbearable that we seriously considered leaving the tour early. Kelly Tours has an outstanding tour guide, but they need to ensure their buses are properly air-conditioned and comfortable for guests, especially during the summer months. Addressing this issue would make an otherwise exceptional tour a much more enjoyable experience.

It is great! You learn a lot about savanna history. If you want to do any bus tours it should be this one. Miss Pat is very knowledgeable and passionate about her history and not just doing it because it’s her job.

My husband and I took the From Slavery to Freedom tour with Miss Pat, and it was one of the most meaningful experiences of our visit. She was incredibly knowledgeable, thoughtful, and passionate as she shared the history and culture of the Gullah Geechee people. The tour was thorough, thought-provoking, and presented with such authenticity and care. Miss Pat’s ability to connect the past with the present made the experience both educational and deeply moving. She also recommended several wonderful local restaurants, which made our time in Savannah even more enjoyable. Her suggestions were excellent and gave us a chance to experience even more of the city’s culture and hospitality. I truly appreciated the opportunity to learn from her. The tour left me wanting to learn even more about Gullah Geechee history and heritage. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Savannah who wants a deeper understanding of the city’s history.

Amazing tour. Lots of history and knowledge. Compassion and understanding. I have no clue how she keeps it all in her head but she knew so much about Savannah's history. I fought tears a few times hearing about our history but I am so glad to hear it from this wonderful truth teller. I would suggest to anyone to do the tour and embrace the knowledge with care and an open mind.

My husband & I enjoyed Sista Pat's Freedom Tour! It was very informative, well-researched and the bus ride was an added bonus! My husband loves history & Sista Pat did a fantastic job presenting. She taught him some things he didn't know. We also enjoyed learning things about Savannah that clearly weren't taught in our history books! Sista Pat is a wealth of knowledge & it was on full display at the Tour. We loved the cemetery stop and how she explained the 10 squares in downtown Savannah. My husband & I loved how she pointed out where the slave auction occurred, not to mention the church, insurance for the slaves & shipbuilding were financed! If we are able to return to Savannah, we will definitely go on another tour with Sista Pat!

This is an exceptional tour lead by Ms. Pat, a highly educated women. Her delivery of information on such a tough subject as slavery, was delivered honestly, graciously and with a true love for her Gullah Geechee people. We did 4 other tours and most of those guides have also taken Ms. Pat’s tour. She is that well known in the area and you will not be disappointed.

The Savannah Slavery to Freedom Tour was AMAZING. Sister Patt (yes, with two T’s 😄) is a wealth of knowledge. She is thorough, engaging, and has a way of telling the story that makes you stop and really think. Being Gullah Geechee herself added such a powerful and personal perspective. There were moments during the tour when the history stopped being facts and became something I could feel. Understanding what wasn’t being said was enough to bring me to tears. I learned things I had never heard before and left with a deeper appreciation for the history, strength, and perseverance of those who came before us.
