Terwijl je in Mexico-Stad bent, mag je de kans niet missen om een van de belangrijkste koloniale steden van Mexico te bezoeken, die in 2017 werd uitgeroepen tot de beste stad ter wereld. De kleurrijke straten en architectuur, evenals de historische rijkdom, hebben ervoor gezorgd dat het een van de mooiste plekken ter wereld. We zullen in de ochtend vertrekken. Tijdens de route zien we het landschap van het centrum van Mexico. Zodra we aankomen in San Miguel de Allende, hebben we anderhalf uur een geleid bezoek aan de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden van de stad, zoals de symbolische parochie van San Miguel Arcángel, de stadstuin, de San Francisco-tempel, het huis van Allende en het Civic-plein . We bezoeken de Artisan's Market, waar u traditioneel handwerk kunt kopen. Na het begeleide bezoek heb je vrije tijd om de straten op eigen gelegenheid te verkennen. Je kunt eten in beroemde restaurants of lokale markten of zelfs naar het uitkijkpunt gaan om geweldige foto's van de stad te maken.

Tijdens onze rit zullen we het landschap van Centraal Mexico zien. Voordat we in San Miguel aankomen, stoppen we zodat u panoramische foto's van San Miguel de Allende kunt maken. Eenmaal in San Miguel de Allende hebben we een rondleiding van anderhalf uur waar we de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden van de stad leren kennen, zoals de symbolische parochie van San Miguel Arcángel, de tuin, de kapel van Jimmy Ray, de Amerikaanse Hispanic Academy, de tempel van San Francisco, de Casa de Allende en de Civic Plaza. We bezoeken de Handicraft Market, waar u typisch handwerk kunt kopen, voornamelijk gemaakt met papier-maché, metalen, geblazen glas.
Dit is de perfecte plek om je volgende favoriete foto te maken. Het ongelooflijke uitzicht stelt u in staat om de Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel en de koepel en toren van de Templo de San Francisco te herkennen.
Prachtig tuinplein, met cafés, boetieks en een emblematische roze parochie met een gotische gevel.
Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel is een 17e-eeuwse neogotische kerk die bekend staat om zijn hoge roze torenspitsen en majestueuze sierlijke heiligdom.
Het was in dit huis waar Ignacio Allende, een van de meest beruchte helden van de onafhankelijkheid van Mexico, werd geboren en getogen. Eind 1810 werd het huis geconfisqueerd door de vice-regering; maanden daarvoor vertrok het eerste opstandige leger voor zijn eerste formele veldslag.
Het classificeren van de architectuurstijl van de kerk van San Francisco is een echte uitdaging. Een expert zegt dat de gevel barok is, een andere pure Churrigueresque, nog een Rococo, en nog een andere overtuiging dat het een combinatie van allemaal is. In ieder geval heeft de gevel die uitkijkt op het pleintje van San Francisco gedetailleerd steengroevewerk, rijkelijk verfraaid.
Oorspronkelijk gebouwd in 1555, was dit plein het centrum van activiteit voor de bevolking, het was de markt en ontmoetingsplaats in zijn tijd. Tegenwoordig is het standbeeld van Ignacio Allende de protagonist van het plein.
Rustig park met felgekleurde bloemen, kronkelende paden, schaduwrijke banken en een speeltuin.
Een kleurrijke ambachtelijke markt, met kraampjes met handgeborduurde sjaals, decoratief aardewerk en zilveren sieraden.

The good: San Miguel de Allende is an amazingly charming town and almost a must see. The OK: the tour and guide were pretty decent and covered key highlights of the colonial town. But being in 2 languages made this a bit clunky, but guide seemed to manage well. Not so good: the tour was cancelled on its originally scheduled date and operator reached out to me to see if I can move it out or we wanted a refund. This did mess up our plans a bit but we had no choice. I know they will say they had no choice but the best would make things work. Overall a 3 star. I am sure there are better tours to San Miguel but this is not too bad either

The tour started late and finished late which caused me issues with another booking i had. The guide Alvaro was very good though, he did the tour in English and Spanish. Our driver also very good, trying to get us back as early as possible. The tour of San Miguel was quite good, but it is quite a hike to walk down many stairs to the township, a few things like a park and shops to see on the way down, also great views. Given we got back so late, i thought our free time was too long and could easily be shortened, still giving enough time for lunch and visiting the many markets.

Great tour! But long travel time almost 4 hours per way. Then we only had 4 hours in the town. Quite short because so many things to see and do. We also had to walk from bus and take taxi back to avoid walking back and save time
Try to get Javier as your guide because he is very knowledgeable about the city, its landmarks, history, and culture. He also made sure every passenger had a great experience and was patient/accommodating for passengers who couldn't get breakfast so they could pull out cash. The tour itself does go by quick before its time to leave, so its a good way to feel out and get a taste if you want to stay more time in SMA. Thats what we did and ended up staying the night in SMA (not part of the tour but Javier and Viator made the process seamless).
Be warned!!! We were cancelled by the tour company 12 hours prior to the tour leaving your plan shattered with the reason cited “logistic issue”. If you don’t want your holiday be ruined, book elsewhere.

It was not worth spending time and money for seeing this place. Guide was sleeping while going in van. Church was closed. Nor a good tour.

The tour was awesome. San Miguel is a beautiful town and a great place to visit.
Took a day trip from Mexico City to San Miguel de Allende and overall it was a great experience. The town is beautiful, especially the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel. Special thanks to our guides Ara, Javier, and Pedro, who were knowledgeable and kept everything running smoothly. The only drawback is the long travel time and limited hours in San Miguel—it felt a bit rushed. Still, a good option if you’re short on time.
